Meet our Halifax Tutoring Staff

Sangeeta believes in leading from the front and that's what she does at Sylvan of Halifax. She manages operations, oversees the educational integrity of our programs, training our team of tutors, timely parent interaction, and student progress. An educationalist and holistic life coach, with experience of more than 12+ years, Sangeeta brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. She chose a career in education as she believes learning shall be personalized instead of following a one-size-fits-all approach. When Sangeeta isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her painting, reading, binge watching Netflix, chatting with her off-the-nest boys, or meditating & spending quality time with herself...

Lynsey, has been working at Sylvan Learning Centre for 2+ years. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Education in Developmental Psychology, she is passionate about the education of students of all ages. She is also perusing B.Ed. and is very excited to expand on her experience at Sylvan. Specializing in teaching both math and science, Lynsey believes in a holistic and individualized approach, and during sessions focuses on instilling love of learning in students. Lynsey loves to relax at home with her fiancé and her cat Sylvie, listen to podcasts, and spend time at her cottage doing puzzles. 

Denise loves teaching students and has worked at Sylvan Learning in Halifax for over 10 years. She has both a Bachelor and Master of Education degree, with former experience at Parks Canada as an Education Specialist and a Researcher for the Archaeology Section. A self-confessed extrovert, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as taking walks with Maggie, her Sheepadoodle dog. A long-time volunteer English Second Language tutor, Denise also thrives on cooking, reading biographies and rug hooking. She also has been known to binge watch the occasional Netflix series!

Sarah is a certified teacher and has been teaching 17+ years. She has a wide range of experience teaching at all grade levels and wholeheartedly enjoys working in education. She loves the every day challenges of teaching profession, I.E to be creative, nurturing and most of all, patient. Her goal to combine her range of experience with her ability to be a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher and make a positive contribution to the educational journey of each student she works with. In her spare time, She enjoy hiking with her dog and studying mycology, entomology as well as sign language.

Josh is the youngest member of our team. He is in his fourth year and is perusing computer science major with a minor in mathematics at Dalhousie University. Some popular programming languages he know include python, Java, C, C++ and JavaScript. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and mentoring students especially when it comes to computer science.  Well, when he is not mastering his own skills or tutoring and helping his students to do the same, he can usually be found gaming, coding, swimming or hiking.

Apart from being a certified teacher with Bachelor of Education, Kassondra also has a Masters of Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Arts. She also is certified in teaching English as a Second Language. Kassondra is highly passionate about learning and has been involved in educational and non-profit fields for the last 10+ years. She has a vast experience of teaching and tutoring students in English, language arts, social studies, and science. She enjoys spending time with friends, reading the latest comic books and fantasy novels, writing, and playing Dungeons & Dragons. 

Rachael is pursuing a Bachelor of Education, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Level 3 Early Childhood Education diploma, several French language certificates and has experience teaching in several models. Through her work with Sylvan, Rachael loves engaging with her many students, working to enhance their language and reading skills, as well as math. Rachael’s true interest and focus is the elementary years; she loves to see the progress they make over time. Rachael enjoys reading, movies, long walks, spinning classes, and time with friends.

Sneha is a graduate from Dalhousie University with Master’s Degree in Computer Science. She recently completed her six month anniversary of work with Sylvan Learning Centre. Sneha loves to teach math and science, being a pro at both. Sneha relaxes with music, gardening, and yoga, while not working or relaxing, can mostly be spotted spending time sketching, hiking and pursuing her passion for photography.
