  • Maxine Dafoe, Tutor

    Maxine Dafoe


    Maxine came to Sylvan after teaching English abroad. Having lived in Kamloops her entire life, she is excited to help the youth of her community and work towards becoming a teacher. Maxine has her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and minor in history from TRU. She also has a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. Maxine loves to help tutor those who need a bit of help with reading and writing. Of course, she doesn’t mind helping with other subjects! When not tutoring, you can find Maxine reading books, working on her novel, cooking up a storm, or singing some tunes at karaoke.
  • Mehdi Hajizadeh, Tutor

    Mehdi Hajizadeh


    Mehdi was born in Iran, and holds a BA in English Literature. He has been working as an English instructor for 20 years! He plays the violin, is a photographer, an IELTS blogger, a poet, and an inspirational writer. He even makes his own handmade burgers. He loves travelling, nature trotting, hiking, and culture exploring.

    Savi Bhatti


    Savinoor (who most know as Savi) teaches mathematics, reading, and writing here at Sylvan Kamloops. She is currently also a student at TRU, hoping to become a nursing instructor because she loves teaching and health care. Besides academics, she's a major food enthusiast! She also enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her loved ones.

    Simren Panghli


    Simren is a reading and writing teacher at Sylvan in Kamloops. She is in her fourth year of her Bachelor's of Arts degree at TRU. Her goal is to get a Master's degree in education and to teach English. She likes to write, read, draw and watch anime in her free time.

    Steph Jed


    Steph oversees the day to day running of Sylvan, managing the team and coordinating the schedule and educational programs. She used to teach and facilitate workshops for BBC Learning (21CC) and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Communication from CSM in London, England, where she grew up. Steph loves to teach reading and writing at Sylvan, which cultivates her creative flair. When she is not in the office, you will find her in the kitchen making ice cream, getting lost on hikes in Kamloops, photographing her adventures or roaming the bookshelves in the local libraries.   • Taya Consalvo, Tutor

    Taya Consalvo


    Taya has been working as a tutor at Sylvan Learning Centre since 2019. She usually teaches reading and writing at Sylvan, and those are her favorite subjects to teach! Her goal is to become an elementary school teacher, and she would love to teach any grade. She is currently in the Bachelor of Education program at Thompson Rivers University so most of her time is spent at TRU, in a classroom, or at Sylvan!
