CTV Interview: Practice Does Make Perfect

Jun 09, 2016
Whether kids want to make the honour roll or the softball team, practice does make a difference.
Sylvan Learning visited CTV Morning Live to share strategies for keeping kids motivated to achieve their goals:
Put a plan in place. Help your child decide what skill to practice and what he or she wants to achieve.
Set measurable goals. Maybe it’s practicing math for 20 minutes a day, or shooting 100 pucks on net.
Establish a routine. Practice builds mental muscle. Repetition helps the brain develop automaticity—the ability to do things as an automatic response.
Highlight role models. Kids love to have heroes to emulate and learn from. Use examples from your own life of how you achieved a goal.
