Our tutors and staff in Mid-South Calgary consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Mid-South Calgary know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Tara Rose, B.A., B.Ed.
Executive Director
As Centre Director, Tara leads day to day operations for Sylvan of Mid-South Calgary. A former substitute teacher, Tara chose a career in the tutoring business because of the time she spent as a part-time tutor at the Sylvan in her home province of PEI. There she was able to see first hand just how effective our programs can be. She studied at the University of Prince Edward Island. When Tara isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family & friends.
Fiona Johnson
Executive Director
Fiona oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Mid-South Calgary. A former Educational Assistant in Okotoks, and teaching student in the United Kingdom, Fiona brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Mid-South Calgary. She graduated from Edge Hill University, in the UK & completed some additional courses at the University of Lethbridge. When Fiona isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her crocheting, baking & reading.
Emma Bennett
Assistant Director
I have been working at Sylvan of Mid-South Calgary for a little over 5 years now. I teach whatever is needed of me, but I prefer Math, Reading & Beginning Reading. I was born and raised in Calgary. I attended the University of Calgary where I earned my degree in Global Development Studies, with an interest in gender and education. In my spare time I go hiking and camping with my friends and family. A fun fact about myself is that I am a twin!
