Our tutors and staff in North Mississauga consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Mississauga know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school. Get to know our tutors and staff in North Mississauga!

    Center Director and Regional Director

    As Center Director, Maawiya overseas the center's operations and marketing details. Maawiya holds an Honors degree in Business Administration Management with a minor in Psychology from the American University of Kuwait; and a Master certification in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business. She began her teaching career in Kuwait, as a tutor for University’s Business Program students. Maawiya enjoys working with parents and students to help achieve their educational goals. When she’s not at Sylvan, you will find her exploring different cultures with her husband, reading, playing board games, and/or swimming.
  • Elif Aydoner-Halicioglu, Instructor

    Elif Aydoner-Halicioglu

    Instructor

    Elif has an Honors Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto at Mississauga, completing an English Specialist and Philosophy Minor. She later completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in the primary-junior division. In addition, she has completed the teaching ESL and Phys.Ed qualifications. Along with teaching in schools in Ontario, she has also had the opportunity to work in schools overseas teaching English as a Second Language to young children. Outside of Sylvan, she is a mother and enjoys spending her time with her family.

    Instructor/STEM Coach

    Francesca has been a tutor at Sylvan for just over six months and delighted to be a part of the Sylvan team. She is currently studying to earn a BA in Theatre and BEd at York University, inspiring to become a high school drama teacher. From a young age, she has had an aspiration to become a teacher and consistently surrounds herself with teaching opportunities. She specializes in English (grades 1-12) and Math (grades 1-10). In addition, she teaches the STEM program. Outside of Sylvan, she can be found with her head in a book or doing improv on the Vanier College Production stage.
