    Jasper Wu

    Director of Education

    Jasper graduated from the University of British Columbia with a combined degree in Mathematics and Statistics. He has plenty of teaching experience as a Math tutor, and as a military instructor in the Singapore Armed Forces. Jasper’s interest in teaching began when he worked as a soccer coach for youth players at West Vancouver Football Club. As Director of Education, Jasper looks forward to forming strong bonds with families on the North Shore, and helping students succeed and strive towards their goals.

    Ana graduated from Capilano University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. During her time at Capilano University, Ana was the editor-in-chief of the student-run magazine, Capilano Courier. At Sylvan, Ana specializes not only in the Reading and Writing programs, but also providing homework support in subjects such as Social Studies. Ana is working towards her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.

    Christina graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies (Education) and has an Education Assistant certificate. She has years of experience as an Education Assistant in school districts. She has also been working as a behavioral interventionist and providing support to students on the autism spectrum. Christina's goal as an educator is to encourage the love of learning and support children's growth.

    Miguel graduated from Queen's University with Honours as an English Major. Prior to joining Sylvan, Miguel worked as a remote tutor to high school students, preparing and designing lesson plans for a variety of subjects. Miguel was also a bike camp instructor to children aged 2 to 12. Miguel is passionate in helping students of all background succeed, and he is currently working towards a degree in Education.

    Tutor

    Shiva is by far the longest-serving tutor at Sylvan Learning of North Vancouver, having taught here since 2010. Shiva initially applied for the role of Math tutor, but has since proven to be a valuable and dedicated asset. She knows the Sylvan Reading, Writing, and Math programs inside and out. Shiva also provides homework support to senior Math and Science students.

    Tutor

    Sina studied Math and Economics at UBC and was an active member of the UBC Math Club. He helped hundreds of students master their first year Math courses, which are prerequisites for becoming an engineer or doctor. During his high school years, he volunteered as a tutor and discovered his natural ability to quickly and accurately identify a student's intellectual and emotional needs, tailor his approach to various personalities, and explain concepts from many angles in a clear, concise manner. Sina’s passion for helping struggling students has continued until this day.

    Stephanie graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor's in Cognitive Science involving Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics, and Computer Science. In her spare time, she works as a freelance artist and enjoys storytelling and riddles. She utilizes her experience and interests to give students a new perspective on learning. Stephanie can adapt to any type of teaching style that best helps her student's needs.
