    Executive Director and Franchise Owner

    Stacey is the Executive Director and Centre Owner. A graduate of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Stacey has taught in Ontario, Quebec, the US, and France. She is passionate about education and helping students love learning, increase their confidence and achieve success.  Stacey is responsible for meeting Sylvan's high operating standards and ensuring that our families enjoy the many benefits that Sylvan has to offer. When Stacey isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her reading, running, traveling and spending time with her family.

    Centre Director

    Tara has over 15 years experience at Sylvan, first as a tutor and for many years as a Director of Education. As the Centre Director she oversees the operation of Sylvan in Oakville and ensures the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. A former classroom teacher, Tara has a wealth of knowledge combined with passion to see every student achieve their academic potential. Tara graduated from McMaster University and The University of Calgary and has worked for Sylvan in both Alberta and in a number of locations in Ontario.  When Tara isn’t at work, you will find her spending time with her two daughters, reading and enjoying the outdoors.

    Director Of Education

    As part of her steady rise to the Director of Education position, Amy has held every position at Sylvan and has enjoyed each one. Every day, she brings a great deal of knowledge, skill and passion to her work. Amy has taught in Ontario and in Alberta and always enjoys working with Early Elementary students. When Amy is about you will see hard work combined with laughter. She loves teaching and her students love to learn with her. Amy studied Early Childhood Education at Mohawk College in Hamilton and then received her English Degree and Teaching Degree from Nipissing University. When she is not at Sylvan, Amy is out walking with her dog or reading the latest mystery novel!

    Sara Scriver

    Teacher / STEM Leader

    Sara is a teacher from Mississauga, Ontario. She is passionate about teaching others, and strives to figure out her students’ struggles so they can work together to find a solution. Her goal is to boost her students’ confidence in subjects they previously struggled in, and for her students to have a fun learning experience. In her spare time, Sara enjoys doing outdoor activities such as kayaking or hiking.

    Craig Nagy


    Craig graduated from Brock University in June 2013 and became a tutor at Sylvan Hamilton in September of 2013. He specializes in teaching History and Physics at the secondary school level, but also loves teaching senior Math and Science courses at Sylvan. Currently, he is an occasional teacher for the District School Board of Niagara. He also coaches soccer in the summertime. When not teaching, he enjoys watching sports, playing hockey or soccer with friends, or practicing guitar.

    Julia Dutaud


    Julia graduated from Queen's University in June 2015 with a Bachelor of Education. She currently is a supply teacher with the Halton District School Board and began teaching at Sylvan in November 2015. She greatly enjoys working with primary students in the Beginning Reading program as well as working with Math Edge students. Julia enjoys getting to know each of her students at the table and encouraging them to be their personal best. In her spare time, Julia volunteers as a leader for Girl Guides and helps coach girls basketball at a local elementary school.

    Katelynne Moors


    Katelynne is new to the teaching team here in Oakville and brings a specialization in Math and Biology. Kate is organized and focused and loves to see when students are able to take what they're learning beyond the text book. When not at Sylvan, Kate can be found horseback riding and competing in horse shows.

    Manisha Kumar


    Manisha graduated from Trent University in April of 2015 with a Bachelor of Education and previously attended York University with a BA Honours in History. She began working at Sylvan in September and loves working with the primary students here at Sylvan. When not teaching she enjoys watching sports and reading. She believes each student is unique and has an amazing desire to learn and her passion is to unleash each student’s fullest potential. 
  • Dania Abu-Hantash, Teacher

    Dania Abu-Hantash


    Dania has been a teacher with us for a few months now. She specializes in high school math and physics here at Sylvan. She is originally from Oakville and loves the town she was born in. Dania is a very optimistic person, and believes that nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it. In her spare time, Dania likes to sew and is enthusiastic about fashion. She has created items ranging from summer dresses to spring coats. Dania is an enthusiastic and endearing member of our team here at Sylvan!
  • William Becken, Teacher

    William Becken


    Will is a teacher from Burlington, who recently finished a postgraduate degree in Child Study & Education at the University of Toronto. He enjoys teaching math and literacy to primary, junior and intermediate students at our centre. Will believes that all students should have positive learning experiences, so they can develop a love of learning. Will works hard to build strong relationships with the students so he can understand what will help them learn best. In his spare time, Will likes reading science fiction novels, and playing board games.
  • Morgan Hicks, Teacher

    Morgan Hicks


    Morgan is a teacher who takes the initiative to make learning fun as possible and strives to find different methods to make the best of her students learning. She enjoys working with primary to intermediate students, she also has a specialty for French language arts. At Morgan’s table you will see busy workers with much laughter and smiles in between. She received her Psychology degree from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB and went on to receive her Bachelor of Education for the St. Mary’s University in Calgary, AB. Not to worry, she is Ontario teacher certified! Outside of the classroom, you can find Morgan out hiking or at one of the many art museums in the GTA.
  • Sylvia van Walsum, Teacher

    Sylvia van Walsum


    Sylvia is a teacher in Oakville. She comes from Burlington and enjoys teaching our younger students their phonics and the finer points of writing. Sylvia is a cheerful part of the team and our students adore working with her. She has a degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science and Education. When not at Sylvan, Sylvia can often be found on nature walks, practicing Tai Chi or reading the latest sci-fi novel.
  • Edreece Abbaszadeh, Teacher

    Edreece Abbaszadeh


    Edreece is a teacher from Oakville, ON and has specialty qualifications in primary, junior and intermediate education. He studied Kinesiology & Health Science at York University and then went on to earn his teaching degree from Brock University. He also spent some time teaching overseas at an international school in Dubai, UAE. Edreece is very patient and accommodating to the needs of his students. He strives to make his teaching equitable, meaningful and fun for all of his students. Outside of teaching, Edreece enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports and travelling to learn and experience different cultures.
  • Carrie Willick, Teacher

    Carrie Willick


    Carrie teaches intermediate and senior students in the Halton region. She obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Brock University, where she specialized in mathematics and physics. Carrie makes learning more enjoyable by using real-life applications and compassion to engage, inspire and motivate students to achieve success. When she is not teaching, Carrie enjoys exploring nature and spending time with her family and friends.
  • Abraham Salem, Teacher

    Abraham Salem


    Abraham has been a teacher with Sylvan Learning of Oakville since January of 2018. He has degrees from all over the world and has traveled extensively. Abraham hails from East Jerusalem, Palestine. He has experience teaching in his home country, Spain and now Canada. Abraham is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing Computer Systems Analyst degree at Sheridan College. He specializes in teaching English with a focus in writing. When Abraham is not tutoring, he is jogging around town or working on his web development skills.
