Our tutors and staff in Anderson consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Anderson know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Koressa Arneson, Center Director of Education and Enrollment

    Center Director of Education and Enrollment

    Koressa Arneson serves as the Center Director for the Sylvan of Anderson.  She is a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  She began as a teacher for Sylvan; teaching multiple programs.  She now coordinates the goals of each family of Sylvan to meet the educational needs of each student. When Koressa isn't at Sylvan, you can catch her spending time with her family, reading a good book, and going to car shows.  She loves music, the beach, and adorable handbags.
  • Jeremy Stewart, Lead Teacher

    Jeremy started at Sylvan of Anderson in November of 2019.  He is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  Jeremy is currently a 2nd grade Virtual Learning Academy teacher at Mt. Lebanon Elementary School where he has been teaching for eight years.  He is also a licensed barber and cuts hair as a hobby on weekends.  He is a die hard Panther's fan and loves to spend time with friends and family when he is not teaching.

    Alyssa joined Sylvan of Anderson in July 2019.  She is currently a senior at Anderson University, graduating in May of 2021.  She will be receiving a degree in English Education and hopes to work at a high school in South Carolina, while pursuing her Master's degree.  Alyssa assists with greeting students, proctoring, transition time, and general office duties.  Alyssa enjoys hiking, gardening, creative writing, and reading.

    Troy Carhart joined our team in February 2018.  Troy has a passion to learn more about math and science, especially in the field of Engineering.  Troy is currently pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University.  Go tigers!  Outside of being a student, he enjoys the outdoors, sports, movies, and spending time with my soon to be wife.  His favorite subject to teach is calculus and he loves helping students learn.

    Sarah is a recent graduate of Clemson University, and she has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math and science. Sarah plans to attend graduate school to earn a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Sarah started working at Sylvan in September 2019. She loves helping students learn and watching them grow. In her free time, Sarah likes to travel and spend time with family, friends, and her fíance.

    Aslynn Halvorson

    Asylnn is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Human Performance at Newberry College.  She received her Bachelor's and Master's in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee.  She is currently pursuing her EdD in Kinesiology through UNC Greensboro.
    She is a former college athlete and throws coach for several high schools, club and college teams.  She coached shotput, discus, hammer and weight. Aslynn’s hobbies include reading, drawing, playing violin and guitar, dancing, and competing in highland games. She wants to break into the Top 10 in North America and compete in a Women’s National Highland Games Championship.  
  • Meg Shumann, Instructor

    Meg joined our team in Anderson in November 2020.  She is cedrtified in Early Childhood and Middle School education from Piedmont College, and has an ESOL endorsement.  Professionally, she has taught 5th grade for many years.  In her spare time, Meg enjoys reading mysteries, writing poetry (she's won awards!), and spending time with her wonderful family.
