    Marc & Amy purchased the Arlington/Mansfield location in April 2018.  After spending the past 25 years in Lubbock, they embarked on a new journey - one that led them to the Metroplex and Sylvan.  Their son attends Rice University and is the one who inspired them to get involved in the education field to help others reach their full potential.  Education and learning unlock so many doors and they enjoy being part of the process and are committed to ensuring Sylvan keeps delivering results.

    Marquisha Boston, PhD

    Director of Education

    Marquisha oversees the educational integrity of our programs by managing and training our team of tutors.  Prior to joining the staff, she spent the last 11 years in various school district capacities including HS Science teacher, Instructional Coach, and Curriculum Specialist in Richardson ISD.   Her education background includes a B.S. in Chemistry from Grambling State University, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University.  In her free time, Marquisha enjoys event planning, building leaders, and church.

    LaShunya Sanders is a STAAR Reading and English instructor for Arlington Independent School District with a gift for working with kids. Before coming to Sylvan, LaShunya taught for nine years in the Dallas Independent School District and completed her studies at The University of Mississippi and Mississippi Valley State University. LaShunya came to Sylvan to make a difference with one-on-one support for students in need of academic assistance. When LaShunya isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading and trying new foods.

    Tom Spring

    Tutor

    Tom Spring teaches Advanced Placement courses in Government, Macro, US History, and Psychology at Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington, TX. He studied at Montana State University before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Master’s Degree in History at The University of Texas at Arlington. Tom has also been an educator at Tarrant County Community College for two years and Dallas Independent School District for twenty-five years. When Tom isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading, visiting historical sights, and watching high school sports at Grace Preparatory Academy.

    Jason is an English Teacher at Harry S Truman Middle School in Grand Prairie where he also serves as Department Head.  He received his Bachelors in English and a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.
  • Jennifer Zervas, Tutor

    Jennifer Zervas

    Tutor

    Jennifer Zervas has experience teaching elementary reading, math, and science. Currently, Jennifer is an elementary reading interventionist at Arlington ISD where Jennifer utilizes the READ 180 and System 44 programs for struggling readers. She graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and tutors reading at Sylvan for all ages from beginning readers through high school as well as elementary math. One of her greatest joys is when a student has mastered their learning objective and can see the student’s confidence grow. During Jennifer’s downtime she enjoys movies, books, and spending time with her family, friends, and two cats.

    Brody graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Minor in Mathematics .  He earned his Master of Science in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Texas Arlington.  As an undergrad, he worked as an Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics tutor and teaching assistant for 2 years and spent 2 years as a research assistant studying computational physics and galactic dynamics.  Brody's hobbies include science fiction and fantasy novels, vinyl records, martial arts, and fantasy sports.

    Tiffany has 11 years of experience in elementary education, seven years as a classroom teacher and four years as a reading interventionist.  She received her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Texas Woman’s University in Denton. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and socializing with friends and family.

    Jules graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BS in Geology.  Her education background consists of math, science, and laboratory/research experience. Math is her favorite subject, which she has been tutoring for many years. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, camping, and rock climbing with her family.

    Charlotte has been teaching twenty years, fifteen of those years in Arlington, Texas.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy Studies.  In addition to her teaching certificate, she also has certifications as a Reading Specialist and an ESL teacher.  Charlotte is a mother of three.  Her children are involved in various activities that keep her pretty busy.

    Janet has been in education for 17 years. She taught high school science for 13 years and has been a junior high counselor for the past 4 years. Janet holds a bachelors in Biology, a masters in Educational Leadership, Composite Science certification for grades 6-12, Principal certification and Counseling certification. She is passionate when it comes to helping students get excited about learning as well as motivating them to succeed.

    Amyre attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology & Criminal Justice. She is currently working towards a teaching certificate in Mathematics. She works at Sylvan as a math tutor, because she loves working with numbers and believes math is the right combination of challenging and fun. She is passionate about learning and teaching students. When Amyre is not at Sylvan, you will find her spending time with her family, friends, or dogs, traveling, or eating her favorite foods. 
  • Lisa Milner, Tutor

    Lisa Milner

    Tutor

    Lisa has a degree in Mathematics.  She taught Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, and basic math in public schools for 10 years.  She now works full time at American Airlines.  However, she just couldn't stay away from teaching!  Sylvan was exactly what she was looking for to still be able to teach and, more importantly, help students become confident and successful! When Lisa is not working, she spends time with her 2 dogs, Blue and Henry.  She also loves to read, work all kinds of puzzles, and has recently taken up water color painting.
