Our tutors and staff in Atascocita & Humble consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Houston know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Jeneisa Davis

    Center Director

    Jeneisa oversees the educational integrity of our programs. She also manages and trains our team of exceptional tutors. She is a graduate of the Texas Lutheran University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Multidiscipline Studies with her teaching certification in EC-6 Generalist. In her free time, Jeneisa enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family. While teaching, Jenesia enjoyed seeing the children excited about school, and learning and seeing them reach their full potential. Her excitement for children is one of the reasons she came to Sylvan.

    Ashley Walsh

    Director of Education

    Ashley oversees the integrity of our students’ programs and the overall experience of our Sylvan families as the Director of Education. After her coursework at LSC Kingwood, she has gone on to raise a family in the Atascocita area and spent extended time as a valued Sylvan team member. She is passionate about helping children learn, build confidence and be successful. During her free time, Ashley enjoys being with her boys during sports activities, reading or RVing with her husband and dogs.

    Mary Wilson


    Mary is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. In Mary's free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and completing fitness activities. She enjoys teaching because she loves being able to help ensure that every child is presented with an opportunity to be successful in life.

    Joseph Rodriguez


    Joseph is a tutor at Sylvan Learning in Atascocita with a gift for working with kids. While Joseph has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading, Math, and STEM. Joseph is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, University of Phoenix, and Walden University and holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Technology. In his free time, Joseph enjoys working with new and existing technology.
  • Daphne Wilson, CERTIFIED TEACHER

    Daphne Wilson


    Daphne is an exemplary tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Atascocita with ten years of experience in education, as a teacher, learning coach, and associate principal. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Philosophy/Cognition & Learning. She holds teaching certifications in ELA, grades 7-12, as well as an ESL endorsement for grades PK-12. Daphne is a Charismatic, hardworking teacher who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. Outside of teaching, Daphne enjoys reading and traveling whenever she can. 

    Pamela Josey


    Pamela is a graduate of Paul Quinn College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree and The University of Houston where she earned a Master’s of Education Degree. She also holds teacher certification for the state of Texas. Pamela loves teaching because she really enjoys helping children appreciate learning and she is especially passionate about helping students understand math. Pamela is a flexible and passionate individual who loves reading, completing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends in her spare time. 

    Ava Howard


    Ava attended and graduated from Texas Southern University and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading and English. She is a Texas certified teacher for grades K-8. Ava recently retired after years of teaching in the classroom and now enjoys staying busy helping others. Teaching is a love of Ava’s as she really enjoys watching students become successful. She loves volunteering her time, reading, and watching movies in her free time.

    Victoria Hernandez


    Victoria is a graduate of Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She is also a Texas Certified Teacher. Victoria is an outgoing, motivated, and creative teacher who loves to encourage and engage with students. She enjoys showing students how fun learning can be. In her free time, Victoria loves using her Cricut to make things, doing puzzles, and Lego projects with her family.

    Bryce Newsom


    Bryce graduated from The University of Houston, Clear Lake with a Bachelor of History degree. He has also will obtain his Texas Teaching Certificate very soon. He really loves teaching and enjoys helping students of all ages to better themselves through increased knowledge. Bryce is a very punctual, flexible, and task driven teacher who really enjoys watching/playing baseball and drawing in his free time. 

    Diane Hopson


    Diane is a person who is patient and full of joy. She is a graduate of Harvard, Emory, and Governors State University. She has a master’s in management, divinity, and political science. In her free time, she loves to support her community by raising organic food awareness for the less fortunate. She enjoys talking to those around her and encourages her students to reach their full potential. 
  • Jzavela Dougherty, SYLVAN CERTIFIED TUTOR

    Jzavela Dougherty


    Jzavela graduated from St. Edwards University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She also has a Master’s Degree in Human Services from the University of Texas and a Doctor of Philosophy in Religion Degree from Universal Life Seminary. She began her career in social work and had opportunities to work in adult education. Over time, she became more involved with teaching children at all levels and she found that to be something she really enjoyed. She considers herself to be empathetic, passionate, and caring. In her free time, she enjoys humanitarian service and outreach, attending concerts, and visiting the theatre and museums.” 
  • Michelle Sappah, CERTIFIED TEACHER

    Michelle is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She also holds Texas Teacher Certification for Early Childhood, Grades 1-8, and English as a Second Language. Michelle is a very outgoing, friendly, compassionate, and flexible teacher who enjoys reading, traveling, and learning new things. She also enjoys teaching because she feels it gives her the opportunity to see changed lives.

    Fanesea is a graduate of Long Beach College of Business and Sothern Technical College. She has been working toward her Texas Special Education teacher certification and will have it very soon. Fanesea is also a Minister and Pastor of Worship. She is a very kind and loving individual who enjoys teaching to assist students in achieving their best. Outside of tutoring at Sylvan, she really enjoys time with her ministry, music, and community outreach.

    Tephanie is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She currently holds her general teaching certification in grades 5 thru 8 as well as grades 8 thru 12 in Math. In Tephanie’s free time, she enjoys traveling and meeting new people. She loves spending time educating students as they work to reach their fullest potential.

    Leslie Reyes


    Leslie is a graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. In Adriane’s free time, she enjoys reading, photography, and music. She loves contributing to the education of children due to the joy that they feel as they grow and become more confident.
