Our tutors and staff in Ballwin consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Ballwin know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Lisa Davis, Center Direcor

    Center Direcor

    Lisa joins us after three years as a center director at our Lake St. Louis Center.  She is a life-long educator teaching in grades 2-8 and working as an administrator of an elementary school.  She has her masters in elementary education and elementary administration. As center director, Lisa is responsible for assessments, communication, and maintaining the integrity of the center.  Her educational philosophy is that all students can learn, they just learn differently. When she isn't at Sylvan, you may find her traveling and spending time with her family.

    Director of Education

    Shane oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. Shane brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Ballwin. He graduated from Webster University with his degree in Educational Studies and Art. When Shane isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him teaching art classes for COCA and volunteering at Laumeier Scupture Park.
  • Jennifer H., Tutor

    Jennifer H.


    Jennifer has a passion for working with children- holding degrees in Math and K-8 Education. While Jennifer loves working with all levels, her focus is primarily on both elementary and middle school. Jennifer loves seeing the “lightbulbs” come on …and excitement develop when children accept they are LEARNERS. Many families request her because she draws even the most reluctant learners to believe in their abilities & builds their autonomy to reach their fullest potential. When Jennifer is not at Sylvan, she is working in a local school, at a book club or spending time with her family or finding some way to extend learning for a student.

    Liz Kircher


    Liz is a teacher in St. Louis, MO with a gift for working with kids. While Liz has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in working with younger children. She studied at Webster University. When Liz isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family.

    Drew P.

    Math and Science tutor

    Drew graduated from Southeast Missouri State with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry as well as minors in Math and Criminal Justice.  He decided to pursue his teaching degree and is working on his secondary certification in Chemistry.  While not at Sylvan or in class, Drew likes to sing and play percussion.

    Erin graduated from Kenyon College with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Anthropology.  She specializes in English/Language Arts in grades K-12.  In her free time she enjoys writing and reading good books.

    Scott received his BA in History from Truman State University as well as his Masters in Education.  He currently serves as support staff in a nearby school district, but hopes to teach history someday.  In his spare time he like to watch movies, run, and is working hard to become a contestant on Jeopardy!

    Gabby graduated from Truman University with a BA in English and is currently working on her Master's degree at the University of Missouri- St. Louis.  She enjoys reading, drawing, writing, and spending time with friends and family.

    Math and Science Tutor

    Shelema Cox attended Manhattan College in the Bronx, NY, earning her Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. After 3 years as an analytical chemist, Shelema became a supervisor and has served in this leadership role as a supervisory chemist for 8 years. Shelema's goal as a science tutor is to help all students understand and appreciate science in its many forms.

    Liz is a Reading, Math, and Writing teacher in Chesterfield, MO with a gift for working with kids. While Liz has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Beginning Reading tutoring. She acquired her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Washington University and her Masters in Reading from Maryville University. When Liz isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her at the theatre, symphony, dinner, or playing bridge with friends.
  • Navdeep Batra, Owner

    Navdeep Batra


    Navdeep is the Owner and Executive Director of multiple Sylvan Learning locations in the greater St Louis area. Navdeep holds a Bachelors in Economics and Psychology and a Masters in Literature and Special Education. As a former High School Math and Special Education teacher with a passion for helping children succeed, Navdeep finds the tutoring business a great fit for her.  Navdeep also has a keen interest in reading, gardening and horseback riding .
