Andrea Uquillas Quila

Executive Director/Owner

Andrea, is a Certified Management Accountant and former finance college professor. She is a mother of 2 and loves spending time with family and traveling.
As an owner she dedicates herself to managing the business and ensuring the Sylvan center of Baytown provides the best service to their territory.

Dana De Pau

Director

Dana is a graduate of Texas A&M University where she earned a Bachelor’s in History and a Master’s in Curriculum Management. She is also a Texas Certified Teacher that has worked for Sylvan. Dana is a kind, motivated, and patient teacher who loves to encourage and engage with students. She enjoys showing students how fun learning can be. In her free time, Dana loves reading and playing with her pets.

Jennifer Chenier

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Jennifer Chenier is a teacher at KIPP Texas in Houston. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Southwestern College. Jennifer has a passion for teaching and loves to show her students new, fun, and exciting ways to learn. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family and her daughter.

Angela Murray

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Angela Murray is a graduate from Texas A &M with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. Angela has a passion to help students reach their full potential. She loves teaching children of all ages and showing them new ways to learn! In her spare time she loves to go to the movies and read.

Patricia is a graduate of University  of Houston – Clear Lake where she earned a Bachelors in mathematics. She holds a teacher certification in 7-12 mathematics. Patricia loves teaching because she really enjoys helping children appreciate learning and she is especially passionate about helping students understand math. Patricia is a positive and upbeat individual who enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Ambra Asberry

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Ambra is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown. She has a passion for seeing kids find joy in learning. Ambra has been helping students at Sylvan for over 10 years! She is a certified teacher who loves watching her students grow in their knowledge and skills. In her spare time, Ambra likes to spend time with her family.

Kalan Lyra

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Kalan is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown with a gift for working with kids.  While Kalan has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading and Writing.  Kalan is a graduate of the University of Houston and holds a teaching certificate in Generalist K-5 and 4-8.  In his free time, Kalan enjoys running and cartooning.

Audria Courtney

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Audria is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has a strong heart toward children and loves to help out any way she can, anytime she can. Audria goes over and beyond for the children who need a little bit of extra help with their classes. Outside of teaching, she loves to volunteer at church, listen to music, and play basketball.

Karah Reeves

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Karah is a teacher at the Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown with a gift for working with kids. While Karah has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading and Math. She absolutely loves watching students grow in their knowledge! Karah is a graduate of Simpson University and holds a teaching certificate in Education K-8. In her free time, Karah enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Shannon Rockwell

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Shannon is a graduate from Texas A&M University where she earned a Bachelors in Education. She currently is a Dyslexia specialist who loves seeing students growth both personally and academically. In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, traveling, baking and sand volleyball. At the Sylvan of Baytown, she enjoys having the opportunity to work in small groups with students to meet their academic needs.

Andrea Gans

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Andrea is a fun teacher at Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown with a gift for working with kids! While Andrea has many tutoring talents, she loves teaching mathematics. Andrea is a graduate from Lamar University and now has over 16 years in education. Andrea is a motivated and outgoing teacher who enjoys spending her free time swimming, traveling, and watching football.

Stacy Robertson

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Stacy has been a tutor at Sylvan Learning of Baytown for many years. She loves helping students succeed and to see them get there is amazing! While Stacy has many tutoring talents, she loves teaching Reading and History. Stacy is a graduate of the University of California with a Bachelor’s in History. In her free time, Stacy likes to basketball, read, and spend time with her kids and family!

Jennifer Owens

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Houston – Clear Lake where she earned a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies. She is also a Texas Certified Teacher. Jennifer is a caring, understanding, and fun teacher who loves to encourage and engage with students. She enjoys showing students how fun learning can be. In her free time, Jennifer loves taking road trips and spending time with friends and family.

Andrea Bunt

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Andrea Bunt is a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s in history. Andrea is a certified teacher with her certificate in 4-8 Core subjects with ESL supplemental. In Andrea’s free time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys teaching because she loves being able to help ensure that every child is presented with an opportunity to be successful in life and build their confidence up.

Brittany Hogue

Certified Teacher

Brittany Hogue is a graduate of University of Houston at Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Brittany holds a certification in EC-6th grade, and loves working with students to inspire them to learn. Her love of learning is evident as she enthusiastically shares her knowledge with students. When not teaching, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Amy Stone

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Amy graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with a masters in curriculum and instruction. She loves teaching and developing her students’ skills in reading, writing, and literacy analysis. Her fun, patient, and caring personality has provided an opportunity for her students to grow in many ways. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and reading.

Deanna Armstrong

CERTIFIED TEACHER

Deanna graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Lamar University. She holds certificates in Early Childhood through 6^th grade and English as a Second Language. It’s easy to see that Deanna loves working with children. She loves to see children learn and meet their full potential. When not at Sylvan, Deanna is involved in activities such as reading, doing brunch, and spending time with family.

Courtney Bryant

Certified Teacher

Courtney Bryant holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, in the field of Interdisciplinary Skills, through the University Of Houston Clear Lake. Through her experiences, she found a love for teaching and has gained a teaching certification in 4-8 Generalist. She has developed a particular passion for helping students be self-motivated to succeed and have a love for learning. Courtney is very motivated to reach her goals and help others achieve the same. In her free time, she enjoys theme parks, museums, reading, movies, and the zoo.

Ivett Lemus Loya

CERTIFIED MATHEMATICS TEACHER

Ivett is a teacher at the Sylvan Learning Center in Baytown. She has a gift for working with kids. While Ivett has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring all levels of mathematics.  Ivett is a graduate of the University of Texas and holds a teaching certificate in Mathematics. In her free time, she loves to travel with family and explore state parks.

Sheridan Nicole Gillam

Certified teacher

Nicole is a graduate of Texas State and Lamar University with a degree in secondary education and education administration. During her career, she realized how much she enjoyed teaching others and making a positive impact on children. When she is not teaching, she finds pleasure in running, reading, kayaking, and spending time with family.

Cierra Anderson

Certified teacher

Cierra is a graduate of Texas A & M University with a Degree in Education. She holds a teaching certificate in 4^th– 8^th math and science. She finds teaching to be a rewarding job where she can make a difference by instilling a “can do” and “never give up” attitude. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, playing SIMS, and resting.

Stephen Herring

CERTIFIED MATHEMATICS TUTOR

Steve is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Baytown with a gift for working with children. While Steve has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring Math and Science. He fully adores helping others enjoy school and find the little successes. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and TAMU where he received a bachelor’s and master’s in Education. Steve has worked with students for years both in the classroom as well as a principal. In his free time he loves spending time with his grandkids, reading, and watching football.

Zachary Patterson

Sylvan Certified Tutor

Zachary is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Baytown with a focuses on mathematics.  Zachary enjoys watching students progress over time. He is continuing to further his education and attended Lamar University.  In his free time he loves spending time with family and listening to music.

Abigail Vernier

SYLVAN CERTIFIED TUTOR

Abigail is a graduate of Southwestern University. During the course of her career, she realized how much she enjoyed teaching others and watching the faces of children when they succeed. When she is not teaching, she finds pleasure in traveling, reading, and camping.

Devin Perry

Devin is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Baytown. She has a passion for helping kids in our community find love for learning. Devin is a graduate of the University of California and holds a bachelor’s degree in child development! In her spare time, Devin likes to play games, nap, and spend time with her friends.

Lee Imani

Certified Teacher

Lee is a graduate of Grambling State University with a bachelor’s degree and she holds a teacher’s certification in English 7-12th grade. She enjoys sharing her knowledge while giving individualized attention to students. In her spare time, Lee enjoys learning about other cultures through travel and spending time with family and friends.
