Our tutors and staff in Bellevue consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Bellevue know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Marissa is a former CPA, graduating from Doane College. She chose a career in the tutoring business because it's been a huge part of her family since 1996. She loves spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors (paddle boarding, fishing, etc.), and a good book. Marissa loves seeing the impact Sylvan has made with families and the surrounding community.

    Kelly is a former Special Education teacher. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Marian University and was a corps member with Teach For America Indianapolis. Kelly loves spending time with friends and family, including her fur daughter Indy! If Kelly could live anywhere, she would live somewhere where she has ancestral roots, like Norway. Kelly loves teaching reading and math at Sylvan!

    Charli is a Math teacher at Norris Middle School in Omaha, Nebraska. She studied Education at the University of South Dakota. She loves reading, drinking coffee, and watching The Office. As a child, Charli wanted to be a marine biologist due to her obsession with sharks! She loves teaching reading and math at Sylvan!

    Brittany is an English teacher in Omaha, Nebraska. She has a Master's in Education from the University of Omaha. Brittany loves reading, writing, and anime! As a child, Brittany wanted to be an archaeologist due to her fascination with rocks, fossils, and gems. Brittany loves teaching reading at Sylvan and is one of our ACT Reading and English teachers!

    Brenna is currently a nursing student at Nebraska Methodist. She holds a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Iowa State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Wartburg College. Brenna loves going to the movies (the scarier the better), trying new restaurants, and crafting. As a child, she wanted to be a painter, then an author, opera singer, doctor, chemist, and now a nurse! Brenna loves teaching upper level math and is one of our ACT Math and Science teachers!

    Monte is a retired high school language arts teacher. He has a degree in Education from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Monte loves hiking with his wife and dog, playing his guitar and banjo, and reading nonfiction. Monte enjoys teaching all subjects at Sylvan, both in-person and virtually.

    Heather is currently an ELL teacher in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She studied Education at University of Nebraska Kearney and also holds a Master's degree in Reading from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Heather loves her family, reading, and dogs! If she could live anywhere in the world, it would be anywhere with a mountain view. Heather loves teaching reading at Sylvan!

    Christy is a teacher in Bellevue, Nebraska. She holds a Master of Science in Education from Peru State College. She loves her family, traveling, and elephants! As a child she wanted to be a teacher and loved helping the teacher perform “teacher tasks,” like grading papers. Now her dream came true! Christy loves teaching math at Sylvan!

    Ainsley is a former math teacher from Utah. She studied Education at Weber State University. Ainsley loves being outside going hiking, fishing, and camping. She also loves to cook and bake! When she was a child, Ainsley wanted to be either a teacher or a veterinarian. She really loves animals - especially dogs. Ainsley loves teaching math at sylvan!

    Danielle is a Spanish teacher in Bellevue, NE with a gift for working with kids. She studied at Creighton University. Danielle loves hot lavender bubble baths, traveling, trying new things, and singing. When Danielle was a child, she wanted to be a famous singer! Danielle loves teaching English and Spanish and is one of our ACT teachers!

    Meet Melissa Barrett, one of our Sylvan Teachers. She is a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves and has spent many years working as a Special Education Paraprofessional. Melissa’s favorite Sylvan program is reading, which makes sense as she loves reading, especially on rainy days. As a child, she wanted to be a professional soccer player, and now she enjoys playing soccer with her kids. Melissa prefers coffee over tea, and if she could live anywhere in the world, she would pick Black Mountain, North Carolina. Melissa is so excited to make an impact on our Sylvan students!

    Sara is an elementary music teacher in Millard, Nebraska with additional training and experience in intervention and tutoring. Sara loves gardening, hiking, swimming, going on walks, writing, reading, and making connections with people she cares about! As a child, Sara wanted to be a musician or oceanographer. Sara loves teaching reading at Sylvan!

    Troy teaches in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He has a Master of Arts in History from UNO. Troy loves his kids, anthropology, paleontology, history, and music! As a child, Troy wanted to be a paleontologist. Troy loves teaching all programs at Sylvan!
  • Trudy Neilson Kimble, Director of Education

    Trudy Neilson Kimble

    Director of Education

    Trudy is our Director of Education. She has a Master's degree in English and Teaching and has held roles as an English/Language Arts teacher, reading interventionist, and instructional coach at Lewis Central Community School District. She most recently held a position as program coordinator and strategist for gifted education at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Council Bluffs. Trudy loves nature, history, animals, babies, science, bikes, her children, and plants! As a child, Trudy wanted to be a farmer or a scientist. Trudy loves teaching early literacy at Sylvan!
