Our tutors and staff in Bellevue consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Bellevue know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Center Director

    As Center Director, Ashley leads the team, welcomes new families to the center, manages the student's academic programs, and works to build relationships in the community for Sylvan of Bellevue. A former, preschool teacher, Ashley chose a career in the tutoring business because she believes in helping students achieve their full academic potential. She studied at Doane. When Ashley isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her cooking and watching Marvel movies.

    Bri Pohlmann

    Director of Education

    Bri is thrilled to be the Director of Education for the Bellevue and Omaha Centers! She grew up in a family of farmers and teachers in Deshler Nebraska. She has a BA in Music Education from Doane University. She has always been passionate about working with young people and she brings her years of classroom experience and expertise - along with her love of working with people - to her position at Sylvan.

    Amanda Meireles


    Amanda is a 2nd Grade teacher in LaVista who loves crocheting and taking care of her many pets - two dogs, two cats and a bearded dragon. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She also has a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement.

    Wenda Gilman


    Wenda is a former high school and middle school English teacher. She studied English and History at Buena Vista University. As a child, Wenda wanted to be a teacher. She loves her family and enjoys reading and binging her favorite shows. She is inspired by the kids she is working with and loves teaching reading at Sylvan!

    Tevin Curry


    Tevin is a student favorite in our Center. He loves sports, reading and spending time with his family. Tevin always planned on being a teacher when he grew up and we're so glad he chose to work with Sylvan!
  • Brittany Rossell, Tutor

    Brittany Rossell


    Brittany is an English teacher in Omaha, Nebraska. She has a Master's in Education from the University of Omaha. Brittany loves reading, writing, and anime! As a child, Brittany wanted to be an archaeologist due to her fascination with rocks, fossils, and gems. Brittany loves teaching reading at Sylvan and is one of our ACT Reading and English teachers! 
  • Melissa Barrett, Tutor

    Melissa Barrett


    Melissa is a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves and has spent many years working in Special Education. Melissa’s favorite Sylvan program is reading, which makes sense as she loves reading, especially on rainy days. As a child, she wanted to be a professional soccer player, and now she enjoys playing soccer with her kids. Melissa prefers coffee over tea, and if she could live anywhere in the world, she would pick Black Mountain, North Carolina. Melissa is so excited to make an impact on our Sylvan students!

    Mariah Kochera


    Mariah graduated from UNO with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Minor in English. With ESL and TEOSOL endorsements, she brings great depth to our center! She currently works as a teacher at Omaha Catholic School and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Educational Diagnostics. When she isn't teaching or studying, Mariah loves to do Pilates, cook, draw and garden.

    Sydney Harvat


    Sydney is a student at University of Nebraska at Omaha studying Elementary and Special Education. She is student teaching in Papillion and will complete her degree this fall. She loves working with students and helping them reach their full potential. When she's not working or studying, you'll find Sydney reading, playing tennis, and spending time with her family and friends. 
  • Emily Sutherland, Tutor

    Emily Sutherland


    Emily is a librarian and educator with a Masters of Library Science and is working on a second Masters in Instructional Design. She enjoys fostering learning and literacy in students of all ages. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Vacaville Unified School district in Vacaville, CA for two years. There she specialized in special education and integrated SEL in k-6 classes. Receiving recognition for providing exceptional learning environments. She has also been working in libraries for 10 years, helping library users with digital literacy and developing research skills. At home she enjoys, reading, art, and playing board games.

    Sarah Janzen


    Coming from a family of teachers, it was clear that Sarah was destined to have a career in education. Sarah is a special education teacher in Bellevue and a lifelong learner. She loves spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, and collecting plants. Sarah completed her bachelor's degree in K-12 Special Education from Wayne State College and master's degree from UNO in 7-12 Behavior Disorders. Sarah is excited to make meaningful connections with the students at Sylvan and help them grow to love learning.

    Ainsley Holley


    Ainsley is a former math teacher from Utah. She studied Education at Weber State University. Ainsley loves being outside going hiking, fishing, and camping. She also loves to cook and bake! When she was a child, Ainsley wanted to be either a teacher or a veterinarian. She really loves animals - especially dogs. Ainsley loves teaching math at Sylvan!

    Marissa Roh


    Marissa is a former CPA, graduating from Doane College. She chose a career in the tutoring business because it's been a huge part of her family since 1996. She loves spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors (paddle boarding, fishing, etc.), and a good book. Marissa loves seeing the impact Sylvan has made with families and the surrounding community.
