Our tutors and staff in Bloomington consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Bloomington know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Director of Education

    Laura Scanlon is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she obtained a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Bloomington, Laura was a teacher with Richfield Public Schools and has worked with students in preschool up through middle school. Laura has one year of experience working for Sylvan Learning of Bloomington, beginning from a tutor to a lead teacher and now center director. Laura teaches a variety of subject areas, and is strong in math, reading and ACT prep. In her free time, Laura enjoys watching her 3 children play softball, baseball and a whole lot of hockey. She resides in South Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Senior Area Director

    Emmanuel has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He finds making a difference in the lives of the youth the most valuable aspect to his role with Sylvan Learning Centers. When he is not working with Sylvan, Emmanuel enjoys spending quality time with his family. 
  • Olivia Snyder, Area Director of Operations and Support

    Area Director of Operations and Support

    Olivia is our Assistant Area Director and Center Director in Edina. She works with our Twin Cities centers to maintain operational and academic excellence. Olivia has been with Sylvan for 4 years and holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Bethel University. Prior to working at Sylvan, Olivia taught 1st grade in Minneapolis. She is passionate about education and building confidence in all students. When Olivia is not at Sylvan she enjoys reading, watching soccer, and playing board games.
