    Kim Teems

    Center Director

My name is Kim Teems. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Grand Canyon University and am currently working on a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Organizations and Industries at Grand Canyon University. I am the Center Director and love working at Sylvan because of the diversity of my duties as well as the staff and students. There is never a dull moment. I am also certified to teach the Advanced Reading Strategies which I truly enjoy, especially when I see a student’s face light up when they make strides and accomplishments. After getting my Master’s degree, my goal is to become an adjunct instructor for Grand Canyon or other colleges and universities. I have learned that I love to teach and share knowledge. Outside of work and school, I enjoy singing (karaoke is so much fun) and spending time with my two little dogs.

Becoming a teacher was something I always knew I wanted to do as I loved school and enjoyed playing school with my younger sister. I graduated from Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, with a degree in Secondary Education/French and then continued to further my education through Penn State. Throughout my career, I have taught PreK through high school with the majority of those years in elementary as a fourth-grade teacher. Now as a retired educator, teaching remains my passion, and Sylvan allows me the opportunity to continue doing what I love. Besides teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog.
