Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Charlotte know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. Sarah Martin

Director

As Director, Sarah leads our team of tutors in Matthews. A former teacher, Sarah chose a career in the tutoring business in order to provide students with the individual support they need. Sarah studied at UNC Charlotte where earned her degree in Education. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her writing, as well as spending time with her family and her cats!
Wendy Schuster

Regional Director

As Regional Director, Wendy oversees operations for our centers in the Charlotte area. A former classroom teacher and administrator, Wendy chose a career in the tutoring business because she wanted a more personal experience with the children. She obtained her Master's in Educational Leadership at the University of GA. When Wendy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her walking her dog at the park or watching UGA football.
Cindy Presnell

Admissions Director

Cindy has been an integral part of our Sylvan team since 2004. As our Admissions Director, Cindy introduces parents to Sylvan, and we don't know what we would do without her! When Cindy isn't at Sylvan, she is training her dog, spending time with her family and friends, and looking forward to trips to the beach.
Lindsey Gallagher

Tutor

Lindsey is a middle teacher in the CMS school district with a gift for working with kids. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in language arts and social studies tutoring and handles many administrative duties. Lindsey has traveled extensively through the world and brings a great deal of that knowledge with her to Sylvan.
Linda Gallant

Tutor

Linda is an exceptional tutor at the Matthews Center, with a gift for working with kids. While Linda has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in the beginning reading program and is our expert in this area.. She studied at Appalachian State where she received her B.S. in Special Education. When Linda isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her volunteering at church and working with children's groups. .
Mark Little

Tutor

Mark is an exceptional tutor and is currently a K teacher with the CMS district. He has over 5 years experience working with young children and works mostly with our young readers. When Mark isn't in the classroom or at Sylvan, he is usually shopping for the latest trends.
Jo Faulk

Tutor

Jo is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Hickory Grove Elementary School. She received her Master's of ED in NY and has been a teacher for more than 20 years. She currently works with our young readers and brings a smiles to all of their faces each time she works with them. Jo's favorite hobby is reading.
Spencer Crane

Tutor

Spencer is currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte studying Computer Science and a minor in Drama. He is a very gifted tutor and works with students of all ages and handles all curriculum areas. When Spencer isn’t at Sylvan, he enjoys going to plays and anything anime.
Joshua Remele

Tutor

Josh is a exceptional tutor working mostly with our math students. He is a recent grad of Western Carolina University with a degree in Applied Math. He is currently studying to be an Actuary. Joshua is an avid reader and loves all things STEM related.
