Our tutors and staff in Chaska consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Chaska know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school. Get to know our tutors and staff in Chaska!

    Center Director

    As Center Director, Carrie works with families and staff to create a successful learning environment for all students.  A former teacher with 20 years of experience in a variety of education settings with students PreK-College, including 16 years with Sylvan. Carrie chose a career in the tutoring business because she loves seeing students in a small learning environment where they feel safe to make mistakes and grow in confidence as well as knowledge and skills. She studied at North Central University where she earned a BA in Elementary Education. When Carrie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her  running, weightlifting, reading nonfiction books and enjoying the great outdoors. 
  • Nina Northrup, Instructor

    Nina Northrup

    Instructor

    Nina has worked in education for more than 17 years. With her strong background in math, she especially enjoys working with students who are tackling new math concepts. Nina has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. When not teaching, Nina enjoys gardening, biking, reading and spending time with her family. One little known fact about her: she was born on an island...Long Island, New York!

    Randy is an ACT Prep, Homework Support and SylvanSync Math/Reading instructor in Chaska, MN. While Randy has many tutoring talents, He finds the greatest joy in Math tutoring and passing along much-needed mathematical skills to the next generation. He has a 40 year background in applied mathematics. When Randy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him writing a data science book and watching lots of baseball.

    Jennifer is a former secondary English teacher and high school counselor. She has an M.A. in English from St. Thomas University and an M.Ed. in school counseling from West Chester University in PA. Jennifer has always loved reading, and has been reading one book after another almost every day since she learned to read! She is passionate about bringing her love of reading to her students, and believes reading books from an early age is the key to developing the strong academic skills needed to succeed in school. In addition to teaching students at Sylvan and reading, Jennifer enjoys traveling, spending time with her grown kids, watching basketball, and exploring the Twin Cities.
  • Simone Tincher-Lewis , Instructor

    Simone Tincher-Lewis

    Simone has been teaching and tutoring for over 10 years in a variety of subjects. She comes from a proud family of teachers and educators and knew she wanted to teach from a young age. Simone has a background in Math, Reading, and Writing but loves teaching the creative side of these subjects as well as Art and Music. Simone is from Hilo, Hawai'i, and came to Minnesota for art school. Simone has a BFA in Drawing and Painting with a minor in teaching from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Simone has a deep love for reading and writing especially from Black and Brown authors. When she is not at Sylvan she is painting large-scale murals across the Twin Cities.

    Jill has been an elementary teacher for 21 years and is currently teaching 5th grade. She has worked in various grade levels from K-5th grade. Jill has an Elementary Education degree from Southwest Minnesota State and a Master's in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University. When not teaching, Jill enjoys hiking, reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

    Heather Weniger

    Instructor

    Heather has worked in Education for over 10 years. She enjoys working with small groups of students in Reading and Math. Heather has a degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College and a Master's degree in Literacy Education from St. Mary's University of MN. When she is not at Sylvan, she enjoys spending time with family and being outside playing soccer in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
