Our tutors and staff in Columbia-Irmo consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Columbia know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Center Director

    Cynthia has been with Sylvan Learning since 2010 & in the position of director since 2012. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Education with a focus in Language Arts. Cynthia loves learning new things, and Sylvan gives her the opportunity to do that every day!  She feels each student can become more confident and successful academically. Her goal is to help students and their families reach their academic targets. When she is not at Sylvan, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family and listening to live music!

    Cynthia Hunton


    Cindy has over twenty years experience as a tutor, director, and diagnostic assessor with Sylvan Learning of Irmo, as well as five years experience teaching in public schools in South Carolina. She has also home schooled for 19 years using a variety of curriculum for multiple learning styles, and has a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. At Sylvan, Cynthia enjoys teaching  beginning reading, reading, math, writing, College Prep and study skills. When not at Sylvan, she enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

    Audrey graduated from College of Charleston in 2014 with a degree in Psychology. She uses this daily with helping students reach their goals and needs at Sylvan. Audrey is focused on encouraging students to do their best while also having fun! In her spare time she loves to find hidden historical places in South Carolina, reading, and snuggling her cats.

    Jack Weigle


    Jack has been tutoring with us for over 15 years at our Irmo location. He has a B.A. in English Education from USC. He is a favorite instructor of our Study Skills, ACT/SAT Prep, Writing and Reading students. His hobbies include his grandchildren, cartooning, playing the drums, gardening and swimming. He teaches at Fairfield Central High School and enjoys leading youth retreats and missions trips.

    Fallon Christian


    Fallon teaches at Boundary Street Elementary School. Her favorite part of teaching is celebrating with a kid when they master something that has been challenging. She enjoys swimming, painting, and cuddling with her dog!

    Robin is certified in early childhood and is a 4K teacher at Oak Pointe Elementary School. She loves spending time with her family, watching college football, going to movies, and going to the beach! Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the growth in students and helping them learn new things. She strives to make learning fun for her students!

    Mr. Rick is currently enrolled as a Math Major at MTC. He loves everything to do with math as well as; music, arts, and technology. His favorite thing about teaching is observing his students have an "ah-ha!" moment, as well as seeing the students' academic/personal progression.

    Ms. Carnetta loves giving to others and bringing a smile to their faces. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, 4 children, and other family members and friends. In her spare time, she loves to read/study the Bible, growing plants, and singing.

    Ms. Megan is currently enrolled in getting her Masters in teaching mathematics degree, She loves making students feeling like math is attainable for all. She especially loves to empower future women in STEM! In her spare time, she loves cooking, camping, cats, and astronomy.

    Ms. Rachel has a double major in English and Secondary Education from Clemson. Her favorite things about teaching are watching students learn new skills and building relationships with them. In her spare time, she likes to read, crochet, and hike.
