Tyrell Gibson
Center Director
As Center Director, Tye leads the management and educational planning for Sylvan of Columbia. A former program director for local non-profits, Tye chose a career in the tutoring business because he wanted to “Be the person you needed when you were younger.” – Ayesha Siddiqi . He studied Youth Development and Nonprofit Leadership at Coppin State University. When Tye isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him writing music, playing with his children, or reading a book.
Jessica Bari
Tutor
Jessica is a Kindergarten teacher in Bladensburg, MD with a gift for working with early childhood students. While Jessica has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Reading. She studied at Gwynedd Mercy College and West Chester University in Pennsylvania. When Jessica isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her camping or watching TV shows with her husband, Justin, and her dog, Joey.
Eric Kantor
Tutor
Eric Kantor is a wonderful tutor with experience both in the classroom and as an administrator. He studied Special Education at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. In his free time he makes delicious ice cream and cheers for the Washington Capitals.
Elizabeth Low
Tutor
Elizabeth Low is a teacher in Hyattsville, MD who enjoys working with children. While Elizabeth has many tutoring talents, she excels in teaching reading and writing. She studied at University of Maryland, College Park and University of Mary, Baltimore County. When Elizabeth is not tutoring she loves to read books and watch movies.
Donald Cook
Tutor
Donald is a tutor in Columbia, MD, who enjoys working with kids and watching them learn. Donald finds the greatest joy in tutoring mathematics at Sylvan. Donald majored in accounting at the University of Baltimore, and obtained his teaching certificate at Towson University. Donald does a variety of activities when not at Sylvan. He is currently the head tennis coach at Carver Center in Towson, getting ready to start his 4th season next spring. Also, Donald is a long-time basketball coach who has worked at major college camps all over the country, having worked at Michigan State and Notre Dame this past summer.
