    Carolyn Abu-Salim

    Center Director

    As Center Director, Carolyn leads the center for Sylvan of North Dallas and Highland Park. When Carolyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her grandson. Carolyn brings years of educational experience to our Sylvan center. With her comprehensive knowledge of the often-confusing metrics of both the public and private school systems. Carolyn is an invaluable resource to our Sylvan family.

    Tom Davey

    Director of Education

    Tom oversees the educational integrity of our programs, coaching and guiding our team of tutors in the Dallas area. A former clinical researcher, Thomas brings a passion for science and math to the Sylvan network in Dallas and Highland Park. A graduate of SMU with a degree in biology, he is also a proud alumnus of Cistercian Prep in Irving. In his free time, you can usually find Thomas on the tennis court - if it isn't football season. He owns exactly one jersey: Cowboys, number 9, but has recently joined #TeamDak!

    Linda Jacobs

    Certified Tutor

    Linda is a teacher in DISD with a serious talent for identifying a clear path to success for each individual student  Her insight is an invaluable resource to our center; a true professional. With Linda's expertise of subjects from K-12, she is a familiar face to all of our students! When asked to name a favorite subject, she expressed her love for the complexity of geometry and algebra 2. Linda has a master's degree in special education from UTD. When Linda isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her at Scottish Rite Hospital mentoring children with disabilities, or, when she has time, enjoying Shakespeare in the Park.

    Lynda O'Neal

    Certified Tutor

    Lynda is a retired teacher in Irving with a true love for learning. Ms. Lynda loves working with beginning reading students, and she is also a huge history buff! If we could vote one tutor to participate on Jeopardy, Lynda would probably break a record or two. A true Texan, Lynda has mastered an impressive array of proven techniques from a rich variety of educational schools of thought. Daily, she presents multiple angles of challenging topics, along with a healthy dose of Southern wit and understanding. Lynda graduated from TCU for her undergrad in Education, and SMU with a master's degree in liberal arts. In her free time, you will find her reading American literature.

    Certified Tutor

    Ellen is a tutor at Sylvan of North Dallas. Ellen has a Bachelor of Science in Geo-sciences from University of Texas at Dallas. Ellen is certified in Composite Science 7-12 and PPR EC-12. When Ellen is not at Sylvan she enjoys reading, writing music, volunteering at the animal shelter, hiking and gardening. At Sylvan Ellen enjoys seeing her students gain in confidence every day.
