Meet our Defiance Tutoring Staff

Diana is a retired teacher with over 35 years of experience. While Diana has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She received her Undergraduate from Bluffton College and her Masters from Wright State University. When Diana isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, quilting, volunteering at school, working on crafts or in her flower garden. Diana loves that Sylvan helps students find their greatest potential.

Jayne was a teacher for Children's House Montessori Schools in Bryan, Ohio with a gift for working with kids. She is a tutor for our Bryan and Defiance centers.   While Jayne has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Reading and Social Science tutoring.  She studied at Adrian College.  When Jayne isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her visiting her great-granddaughter.   

Brooklyn is a tutor in Bryan, OH, with a gift for working with kids. While Brooklyn has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Math. She studies at Northwest State Community College. When Brooklyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her doing fun activities with family and friends.

Sara Greek is a Tutor in Defiance and Bryan, OH, with a gift for working with kids. She studied at Northwest State Community College. When Sara isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time hiking, listening to music, or playing video games.

 Kristen has been working at Sylvan since July 2022, at our Wauseon center. She has a Elementary teaching background and also has six years of experience teaching preschool. Kristen enjoys the opportunities to work with so many different grade levels and school subjects. She says,  "the smaller working environment allows me to provide my students with more individual instruction to help them succeed". Kristen is married and has one son. She loves to cook/bake, have family movie nights and spend time with friends.

Autumn is a senior at Defiance College, majoring in Biology and minoring in Autism Studies. Autumn has been a math and biology tutor at Defiance College. Autumn loves helping people in anyway she can. When Autumn isn't tutoring she enjoys playing video games and enjoying the outdoors. 

Savanna is a Junior at the University of Toledo studying Early Childhood Education. Savanna has worked in the education field teaching preschool and 1st grade. At Sylvan, Savanna loves helping students be more confident in their abilities. In Savanna's free time she loves to spend time with family, friends and her fur babies. She also enjoys going to the gym and boating on the river.  

Victoria Heishman is a School aide in Ottawa, OH, with a gift for working with kids. While Victoria has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring Language Arts. She studied at Manchester University in Indiana. When Victoria isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her volunteering at her church where she also teaches Sunday School.
