Our tutors and staff in Essex Junction consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Essex Junction know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Leah LaClaire
Executive Director
Director
As Executive Director, Leah leads all daily and educational operations for Sylvan of Essex. Leah has 15 years of experience with Sylvan. She chose a career in the tutoring business because she knows that education is everything and that Sylvan is the best! She studied at the Millersville University of Pennsylvania where she received a B.S.E in Secondary Education and The University of Vermont where she received an M.A. in History. When Leah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading a good book, traveling with her family, or practicing the Italian language!
Eileen
Lead Tutor/Director of Education
Director
Eileen is an instructor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Eileen has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studied at The University of Vermont, St. Michael’s College and JTS. When Eileen isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her studying ancient languages just for fun!
Mary
Lead Tutor
Mary is a tutor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Mary has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in science tutoring. She studied at UVM. When Mary isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her riding horses.
Jack
Tutor
Jack is a tutor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Jack has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He studied at Lehigh University. When Jack isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading, researching or playing with his dog.
Kell
Tutor
Kell is a tutor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Kell has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in English Language Arts tutoring. She studied at Carson-Newman University. When Kell isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading a good book or painting!
Ella
Tutor
Ella is tutor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Ella has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math and beginning reading tutoring. She studied at The University of Vermont. When Ella isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing guitar.
Mary Ann
Tutor
Mary Ann is a tutor in Essex, VT with a gift for working with kids. While Mary Ann has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in intermediate level math and ELA tutoring. She studied at the University of Vermont and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. When Mary Ann isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her hiking, kayaking, and birdwatching
