    Executive Director

    Scott has over fifteen years of experience with Sylvan Learning. Recently, Scott spent several years in the Middle East opening new Sylvan centers. As a director, Scott enjoys meeting new families to determine their tutoring needs. A native of Alabama, he has lived in the DC Metro area for over thirteen years. Scott enjoys traveling, reading on the beach and Alabama football: Roll Tide

    Tutor

    Vernon has over ten years of experience with Sylvan and specializes in math, including higher level mathematics and SAT/ACT Math Prep. He holds a Masters Degree in Engineering and helps his wife run a local health spa in his spare time.

    Tutor

    Kay has over 12 years experience as a Sylvan certified teacher. She teaches Beginning Reading, Reading, Writing, Math, SAT/ACT English and Study Skills. Kay has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She taught K-3 gifted and talented students and provided teacher professional development for 16 years in Pontiac, MI. Kay loves to travel, read and sing in the McLean Chorale.

    Rhyan Wong

    Education Program Manager

    Rhyan has 10+ years of teaching experience and has taught students ranging from 2 thru 14. She has worked in both the public and private sectors. Rhyan holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education & a Master's degree in Instructional Technology. Recently promoted to Director of Education, she has spent her free time researching the latest educational trends as well as initiating educational programs for the center.

    Chandra Ranada

    Chandra has a Master of Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute and a PhD from Cornell University in Economics. He also has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University to teach Secondary level mathematics. He has been teaching mathematics in high schools and Universities, including Sylvan, since 2002. Prior to that he worked for the World Bank in Washington, DC.

    Lila Schandler

    Tutor

    Lila is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at Virginia Commonwealth University with a minor in Mathematics. Her love for math and English have been present since childhood, with her father and mother both being majors of the subjects respectively. Her favorite math subjects include algebra and precalculus, but she has a love for all levels of learning. She feels most accomplished seeing her students' faces light up when they finally understand a concept and lives to see her students succeed. Currently, Lila teaches English, Math, and SAT preparations.
