Sarah

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Sarah oversees Indiana centers in Mishawaka, Elkhart, Merrillville, Schererville, Valparaiso, Fishers, Carmel, West Indianapolis, South Indianapolis, Fort Wayne North, and Fort Wayne South, and four Florida centers in Clermont, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips and Kissimmee. She thoroughly enjoys working with all of the students and their families. Sarah studied at Cedarville University.  When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters.

Kent

Center Director

Welcome to Sylvan Learning Center! My name is Kent Kolbow, and I am the owner and one of the directors. I received my college education in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During my educational experience, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Math with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I also earned an endorsement in education. During college, I taught at Sylvan Learning centers in Fort Wayne, and within a few years, became the Director. In 1997, I decided to purchase the Sylvan centers in Elkhart and Mishawaka. I have since had the opportunity to purchase nine additional centers in Indiana. My goal through working with Sylvan is “Success with Every Student.”

Jill

Director of Student Advancement

A former teacher, Jill chose a career in the tutoring business because she wanted to continue teaching while being able to meet students at their personal academic level on a consistent basis. She studied at Huntington College. When Jill isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends doing activities and games together.

Jonell

Center Director

Jonell is a Center Director for Sylvan of Fort Wayne South.  As a former Director of GKB Community Head Start & Early Head Start, Jonell chose a career in the tutoring business because she loves to watch children grow and learn.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University, West Lafayette, and her Master’s Degree in Education with a certification in Administration from Ball State. When Jonell isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching one of her children’s sporting events or spending quality family time with her husband and their six children.

Zac

Assistant Center Director

As Assistant Center Director, Zac aids teachers and administrators in their pursuit to reach and teach students for Sylvan of Fort Wayne South. As an English adjunct for several local universities, Zac chose a career in the tutoring business because he recognized a deep need for students to encounter a judgement-free and helpful space to work through challenging concepts outside of the classroom. Zac studied at Moody Bible Institute where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and received his Master of Arts in English literature from Purdue Fort Wayne. When he is not at Sylvan, you’ll find Zac writing poetry and reading various books.

Anne

Tutor

Anne is a 4th-grade teacher in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a gift for working with kids. While Anne has many tutoring talents,  she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at the University of St Francis. When Anne isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with friends and family and watching a lot of TV!

Rhianna

Tutor

Rhianna is an elementary teacher in Huntington, Indiana with a gift for working with kids. While Rhianna has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Reading tutoring. She studied at Ball State.  When Rhianna isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading with her cat, listening to music, or crafting.

Dianna

Tutor

Diannna is an elementary teacher and children’s librarian in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a gift for working with kids. While she has many tutoring talents, Dianna finds the greatest joy in  Reading and Writing tutoring. She studied at Huntington and IUPUI. When Dianna isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading mysteries, painting watercolors, playing with her cats (Timmy and Sid), or watching mysteries with her husband, Harry.

Geri

Tutor

Geri is a Math tutor in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She has a gift for working with children. Geri has many tutoring talents. She finds the greatest joy in Math tutoring. When Geri isn’t at Sylvan, she can be found gardening, experimenting with computer coding, and doing cross-stitch.

Sue

Tutor

Ms. Sue was a middle school Language Arts teacher with a gift for working with kids. She studied both at Purdue and Indiana University. Ms. Sue came to Sylvan because a former student reached out to her regarding a teaching position that became available.  His passion for Sylvan inspired her.  When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, sewing, or tap dancing.

Joshua

Tutor

Mr. Joshua is a teacher in Fort Wayne, IN  with a gift for working with kids. While he has many  talents, Mr. Joshua finds the greatest joy in Math tutoring.  He studied at Concordia Wisconsin.  When Joshua isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him listening to audio books, playing with his kids, playing video games, or watching movies.

Helen

Tutor

Ms. Helen is a teacher at Sylvan in Fort Wayne with a gift for working with kids. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in assisting students in developing and strengthening their math, reading, and writing skills.  Ms. Helen studied at Ball State University and Purdue Fort Wayne. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, spending time with friends, gardening in good weather, and spending time with her children and new puppy, Fynn.
