Hi, my name is Sarah Gschwend. I am the Center Director here at Sylvan of Fort Wayne. I grew up in Albion, Indiana, where I went to Central Noble. After high school, I attended IPFW where I earned my B.S. in Business Management. I love being part of the Sylvan team and helping families reach their academic goals. When I am not at Sylvan, I love to walk my dogs, go on bike rides with my husband, work on renovations on my house and spend time with my four sisters-in-law who all live right here in Fort Wayne!

I am a seasoned tutor at Sylvan Learning of Fort Wayne, IN starting in 1995. While I have many tutoring talents, I find the greatest joy in Study Skills tutoring. In July of 2015, I became the Director of Education and enjoy overseeing the students' programs, conferencing with classroom teachers, and meeting with parents.  I studied at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I have two teenage boys that keep me on the go.  I love family time whether it be packing up and heading out camping, going for a bike ride, or taking a trip to the beach.

What I love about my job is seeing a plan come together: skills mastered, communication among parents, teachers, kids, and Sylvan, confidence rising, and goals being met. I graduated from ISU and after teaching a few years, I bought a Baskin-Robbins. Luckily, I found Sylvan and could bring my background in education and business together. Our center has been honored often for keeping high standards. As past Director of the Year, I strive for continued success each school year.

During that time, I also coached Girls Basketball and Girls Track. I also pursued a Master’s Degree in Mathematics at IPFW. I am a fourth grade teacher at Mabel K. Holland Elementary here in Fort Wayne. I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education from Indiana University- Purdue University Fort Wayne.
