Ms. Karen Jones

Managing Director

As Managing Director, Karen leads daily operations at Sylvan of Fulshear. A former daycare owner and Coach, Karen chose a career in the tutoring business because she has a passion for education.  Molding curious minds and teaching the importance of education is what she was meant to do.  She studied at Texas A&M Kingsville where she played volleyball and ran track. When Karen isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her with her family, spoiling her grandbaby….Marc, husband of 38 years, teaches at FBCA. Brenn (Autistic adult son) 28 yrs. old.  Jordan, son who is 26, married to Haley, 1 grandson Garrett (my little love).  Kendall, 24 years old and is a US MARINE….OOOOHRAH.

Ms. Frances Kmiec

Certified Sylvan Teacher

Ms. Kmiec is a certified teacher with over 19 years of teaching experience. She has taught grades 2 through 5 and currently teaches 4th grade math & science. She has also worked as a private tutor for 3 years.

Ms. Kmiec was born and raised in Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has three (now) adult boys and a 2 years old grandson. Ms. Kmiec enjoys attending church, gardening, hiking, cooking, and watching football & baseball.

Ms. Martha Allison

Certified Sylvan Teacher

Ms. Martha was born in the Panama Canal Zone to an U.S. Navy family. She grew up mostly, in Yuma, AZ, on the “frontera” (border). She graduated from Arizona State University in 1972.and became a Spanish and French teacher for middle and high schools. She has taught for 15 years in public and private schools and retired in 2012. She taught at Sylvan in AZ for a few years. She joined Sylvan Fulshear in 2021.

Her husband is a retired Historian for the Marine Corps. They have four adult children who are happily married and have professional careers. Their both daughters are fraud investigators, one son is an attorney, the other one is an architect/engineer and a U.S. Navy officer. They have three grandchildren.

Ms. Tanja Chenault

Certified Sylvan Teacher

Tanja Chenault has over 28 years of teaching expertise. She graduated from Texas Tech with a B.S. in Education and the University of New Orleans with a MS in Education.  Tanja loves tutoring at Sylvan where the students use individualized learning programs to gain skills where they have gaps.   Her goal is to help students suceed and feel good about their progress. She has a lot of experience in working with students with learning disabilitlies and loves to see them improve. In her free time she likes to spend time with her grandchildren and relaxes by playing games on her computer.
