Our tutors and staff in Gilbert & Queen Creek consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed.     Center Director

    Jaci has been a director for a year, but has been around the center and involved in Sylvan for her entire life. Jaci has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as certifications in Applied Behavioral Analysis to work with special needs students. Her favorite aspect of working at Sylvan is building relationships with students, parents, and teachers and following each student's academic growth. Watching them bring in improved report cards/tests eager to show them off is the best feeling! When she is not at Sylvan she can be found traveling and dancing.

    Amy has spent 7 years with Sylvan and is a great all-around tutor. She has a BS in Secondary Education (English). She works with students in Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Math Essentials, Algebra, Algebra Edge, Math Edge, SAT/ACT Prep, Study Skills, Homework Support, and our STEM Camps! Amy's favorite Sylvan moment is watching as her students improve every single day that she works with them. In her free time, Amy likes to read, write, and cross stitch.

    Steve is a veteran Sylvan tutor with a wealth of knowledge when it comes to math and science.  He has a Bachelor's in Math and a Masters in Education with an area of specialization in Engineering and Technology.  While Steve has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math and homework support tutoring. When Steve isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him relaxing or doing multiple outdoor activities.

    Christin is a veteran Sylvan teacher who works with a variety of students in many subject matters.  She has a Bachelor's in Physical Science and a Masters in Elementary Education.  What she enjoys most about Sylvan is making a difference in kids' lives and it keeps her teaching skills current at different levels.

    Dylan has been with Sylvan for 3 1/2 years and has excellent rapport with all of our students. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering and is currently working on his BA in Music Education. Dylan teaches lower level Math, Algebra (1 & 2), Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, Reading, Writing, Homework Support, SAT/ACT Prep, and Study Skills. His favorite Sylvan moment was when a student came back to thank him for helping him pass Algebra. Dylan's favorite hobby (and other job) is music.

    Abbey Magoffin

    Tutor

    Abbey has been with Sylvan for a year and a half and teaches our elementary and jr. high students Reading and Math. Abbey has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Her favorite Sylvan  moment is seeing the students' eagerness and motivation to learn and progress. When Abbey is not at Sylvan, she enjoys reading, volunteering at the animal shelter, watching movies, and spending time by the pool. 
  • Takumi Hawa, Tutor

    Takumi Hawa

    Tutor

    Takumi has a PhD in Aerospace Engineering. He works with students in Algebra (I&2), Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Chemistry. In his free time Takumi enjoys playing baseball and hiking. His favorite part of working at Sylvan is determining weak areas in Math for his students and helping them thrive!
