Sylvan Learning has launched new STEM programs to get kids psyched about robotics, coding and engineering.. We're looking for high-energy applicants who are able to create a positive and fun learning environment while teaching STEM-based courses. College and high school students who love math and engineering are welcome to apply too!
You'll Be a Great Fit If You 
  • Available on Weekday afternoons
  • Have a passion for robotics, coding and engineering. 
  • Are familiar with computer programming. 
  • Can facilitate group-based learning while keeping it fun with kids in grades 1-8. 
  • Comfortable communicating with parents. 
  • Enjoy working with kids in a hands on, interactive way. 
  • Are reliable, personable, flexible, engaging and energetic

Ideal Candidates
  • Camp counselor types. 
  • Mentors. 
  • Enthusiastic about using manipulatives like LEGO and KNEX to build and learn 
  • Experienced managing groups and elementary / middle school aged students 
  • Engaging and able to oversee classroom dynamics
  • Dynamic and flexible 
  • Able to follow the course curriculum as designed and accept coaching and development 
  • Communicate needs and missing/broken materials to manager

Responsibilities 
  • Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment 
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for Sylvan and Sylvan products 
  • Take pictures and videos of students during class 
  • Send post-session emails to customers with pictures and videos 
  • Be prepared for each project before each class starts -- build each project 
  • Set up and clean up materials before and after each session 
  • Maintain materials in good condition 
  • Pick up and drop off equipment when necessary 
  • Greet and assist students to build rapport and establish expectations 
  • Help teachers prepare room for class and set up materials 
  • Encourage and monitor students throughout sessions
  • Help students build projects when needed 
  • Ensure clean up means all LEGOS and KNEX parts end up back in packaging
