The Sylvan Coding Teacher should have a basic knowledge of, comfort with, and interest in computer programming. This teacher should be enthusiastic, energetic, and fun.
Do you have a love for computers and working with children? Have you ever created lines of code? Are you a college student? A teacher? Or even a certified teacher with a STEM degree? Could you use extra money for teaching the next generation to be computer whizzes?
If so, Sylvan Learning of Harvey is looking for people like you to instruct our new STEM programs, a series on Coding for kids for elementary-aged children.
Responsibilities:
- Have a basic knowledge of, comfort with, and interest in computer programming.
- Supervise, interact with, and motivate students (grades 3–5) during instruction and while they work (6:1 ratio).
- Communicate with parents in person and via email.
- Communicate class needs to the Center director.
- Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment.
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan.
- Be dependable and reliable.
- Adhere to principals and techniques defined in training and ongoing coaching.
- Requirements:
- experience working with groups of elementary-aged children
- interest in STEM-related topics
