Our tutors and staff in Knoxville consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Knoxville know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Kevin Ward
Center Director
Kevin has been Center Director of our Knoxville location since 2015. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Kentucky University, and has taught in the public school systems of South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. When Kevin isn’t at Sylvan, he enjoys traveling, studying history, and art. He is passionate about learning and helping anyone to gain confidence and academic independence.
Savana Edwards
tutor
Savana is a tutor who loves watching kids learn new things. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, she is currently enrolled in a Masters program at UTK. When Savana isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys reading, movies, and playing pickleball.
Susan Butler
tutor
Susan has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Ed., and taught in the public school system for 20 years before becoming a team member at Sylvan of Knoxville. She welcomes each student with an engaging smile, going above and beyond to create a unique experience for each of them. When not at Sylvan, you can find Susan spending time with her family and 2 dogs.
Evan Pierce
tutor
Evan is a Sylvan-certified tutor in upper-math and reading, and loves watching the light come on in students’ eyes as they learn a new skill. He is a member of the TN National Guard and a senior at UTK, having completed 4 years of ROTC at the college level while majoring in Wildlife and Fishery Management. When not at Sylvan, you’ll find Evan spending time outdoors with his girlfriend.
