JoAnn Berg-Lynn

Executive Director/Owner

As Executive Director and Owner, JoAnn leads the educational integrity at Sylvan of Las Vegas, Southwest.  A 19 year veteran teacher, and a 10 year part-time Sylvan teacher, JoAnn chose to leave the classroom to open her own Sylvan Learning Center. She loves how the Sylvan Learning programs help students grow to their full potential. When JoAnn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband, Terry Lynn, friends,  crafting, reading and traveling.

Cynthia Hohmann

Personalized Learning Coach

With over six years of teaching experience, Cynthia is passionate about making a difference in students’ lives. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Fayetteville State University and a M.A.T. in Middle Grades Math. Cynthia is honored to have been inducted into the National Honor Society during both high school and college and is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. A classically trained violinist for over 20 years, Cynthia brings a unique blend of creativity and discipline to her teaching approach. She chose to work with Sylvan because of the center’s dedication to helping students succeed. The “ah-ha” moments that come with a student’s success are what truly inspire her. When not teaching at Cheyenne High School and Sylvan, Cynthia enjoys indulging in manga and anime.

Brad Redmond

Personalized Learning Coach

Brad has been helping students succeed for over 20 years as a dedicated educator and personalized learning coach. With experience teaching middle school math, Algebra 1 & 2, and Geometry, he brings a deep passion for making learning accessible and enjoyable. He joined Sylvan Learning of Las Vegas Southwest to help students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. A proud father of four, Brad’s two sons attend UNLV, while his daughters are thriving in middle and elementary school. Outside the classroom, Brad enjoys digital and tabletop gaming, often playing with his kids—because learning through play keeps everyone sharp!

Larissa Knighton

Personalize Learning Coach

With 19 years of experience teaching kindergarten and first grade in Las Vegas, Larissa has had the privilege of watching children thrive in their educational journeys. As a Personalized Learning Coach at Sylvan, she’s committed to guiding each student through a tailored learning experience that helps them reach their full potential. Larissa’s B.A. in Elementary Education has given her a strong foundation in teaching, but her true passion lies in seeing children grow in both knowledge and understanding. When she’s not working, Larissa loves spending time with her children, reading, and creating crafts. She’s also deeply involved in my community, volunteering at my church and children’s school to support those in need.
