Great Teachers Inspire

Our tutors and staff in Lewis Center consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Lewis Center know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Kelly Casey, Center Director

    Kelly Casey

    Center Director

    As Center Director, Kelly leads the marketing and public relations for the Center. A former teacher and school counselor, Kelly chose a career in the tutoring industry because of her strong desire to personalize learning and meet individual student needs. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Miami University and a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton. When Kelly isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
  • Dezirae Roberts, Director of Education

    Dezirae Roberts

    Director of Education

    Dezirae oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Lewis Center and Dublin. A former elementary school teacher in Okemos, Michigan, Dezirae brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Lewis Center. She graduated from Michigan State University. When Dezirae isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family and traveling.
  • Lauren Harville, Regional Director

    Regional Director

    As Regional Director, Lauren leads marketing, public relations and contracts for Sylvan of Central Ohio (New Albany, Grove City, Lewis Center and Dublin) locations. A former Program Manager and Intervention Specialist, Lauren chose a career in the tutoring business because she believes education should not be approached as "one size fits all". She wants to ensure that students are able to reach their full potential through the many great individualized educational opportunities our center offers. She studied at Bowling Green State University, where she received her B.S in Education. When Lauren isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with family and exploring the world through travel.
  • Caren Beckett, Owner

    Caren Beckett

    Owner

    Caren is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with her B.S. in Elementary Education. Caren has worked with Sylvan in many different capacities since 1996. Prior to opening the Bowling Green Center in 2001, she worked in Columbus area centers as a teacher and Director. Caren comments "Sylvan offers programs that help students feel successful again. The excitement shown by students when they see their school grades improve is not only rewarding as a Director, but also as an educator."
  • Craig Beckett, Owner

    Craig Beckett

    Owner

    Craig is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a BS in mechanical engineering and has an MBA from the University of Findlay. He joined Sylvan in April 2006, and prior to that worked as an engineer. Craig and his wife (Caren) are involved in the daily operations in the 7 Sylvan centers they own; Bowling Green, Defiance, Findlay, Lima, Toledo, Lewis Center, and New Albany.
  • Mel Beck, Teacher

    Mel Beck

    Teacher

    Mel is retired software engineer and former computer/communications specialist in the Air National Guard. While Mel has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He earned an Associate of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Columbus Technical Institute and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Ohio State University. At Sylvan, Mel works with students in math, ACT/SAT Prep., and STEM programs.

    Margaret is a teacher in Lewis Center, OH,  with a gift for working with kids. While Margaret has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy teaching students in the area of reading. She studied at Central Connecticut State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work. When Margaret isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her gardening or spending time with her family.
  • Anna Reyes, Teacher

    Teacher

    Anna is a teacher in Lewis Center and Dublin, Ohio with a gift for working with students. She has a passion for helping and serving people. Anna studied at Ohio State University and received her B.S. in Education. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing the violin, watching movies, reading books, or cooking.

    Tricia Tasio

    Teacher

    Tricia is a teacher in Lewis Center, OH, with a gift for working with students. While Tricia has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching students in the area of reading. She studied at the University of Cincinnati where she received her Bachelor's degree in Education. Tricia also went on to recieve her Master's degree in Education and Reading Science, with a reading endorsement, from Mount St. Joseph University. When Tricia isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her traveling.
  • Stephanie Waldron, Teacher

    Stephanie Waldron

    Teacher

    Stephanie is a teacher in Lewis Center and Dublin, Ohio, with a passion for teaching math. She recently moved from South Dakota to Ohio. During her time in South Dakota, she taught 8th-12th grade math students. She studied at Chadron State College where she received her Bachelors in Secondary Education with a field endorsement in Mathematics. When Stephanie isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with her husband and daughter.
