Great Teachers Inspire

Our tutors and staff in Lewis Center consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Lewis Center know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school. Get to know our tutors and staff in Lewis Center !

  • Darla Moore, M. Ed, Director of Education

    Darla Moore, M. Ed

    Director of Education

    Darla oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of educators in Lewis Center and Dublin. A veteran school teacher/leader, Darla brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Lewis Center. She holds a Bachelor's from The Ohio State University, a Master's from Urbana University, and is currently working on her Doctorate at Franklin University.  When Darla isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her working on writing, traveling, or enjoying the Columbus art scene.
  • Mel Beck, Teacher

    Mel Beck

    Teacher

    Mel is retired software engineer and former computer/communications specialist in the Air National Guard. While Mel has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He earned an Associate of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Columbus Technical Institute and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Ohio State University. At Sylvan, Mel works with students in math, ACT/SAT Prep., and STEM programs.

    Stephanie is a  teacher in Lewis Center, OH with a gift for working with students. While Stephanie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Dayton. Stephanie taught English, literature, reading, and writing for 30 years. When Stephanie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her two children, reading, or interior decorating.

    Stephanie is a teacher in Lewis Center and Dublin, Ohio, with a passion for teaching math. She recently moved from South Dakota to Ohio. During her time in South Dakota, she taught 8th-12th grade math students. She studied at Chadron State College where she received her Bachelors in Secondary Education with a field endorsement in Mathematics. When Stephanie isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with her husband and daughter.

    Ellie is a teacher in our Lewis Center location with a special gift of working with students of all ages. While Ellie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in working with Middle and High School students. She is in her 3rd year at Otterbein University in Education. When she isn't at Sylvan, you will find her with her rescue dog, Trixie, reading, or travelling.

    Kelly is a passionate teacher at the Lewis Center location with a talent for working with students of many ages. Kelly loves to see students learn and grow more confident in the subject areas. She has a degree in Elementary Education with experience teaching Science and Language Arts prior to joining Sylvan. When Kelly isn't at Sylvan, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

    Tim is a valuable asset here at our Lewis Center location. Tim comes to us with previous experience from a Sylvan Learning Center in Beavercreek Ohio. He has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Wright State. When Tim isn't at Sylvan, you will find him teaching at a local pre-school.

    Audrey is a teacher at our Lewis Center location with a talent for working with Math students. Coming from the business world, Audrey has her Master's in business administration and previously owned and operated a childcare center in the Cleveland area. Her greatest joy when working with students is helping students understand math in a real-world context. When she is not at Sylvan, she enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her favorite sports teams.

    Courtney comes to us from Charlotte, North Carolina where she taught as a behavior specialist. Courtney has a wide range of tutoring talents but she finds her greatest joy in reading. When not at Sylvan, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family.
