    As Center Director, Alexandra oversees the day to day operations for Sylvan ​Learning ​of Long Beach. She comes to us with over 9 years as an Admissions Director for a ​blue ribbon private school​ and over 25 years in retail. Alex​ ​​chose a career in tutoring because she ​is passionate about​ helping children​​ and their families advance to new heights. Alex received her Bachelors degree in Business/ Retail Management at Simmons College of Boston. When Alex isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her walking with the Bixby Strollers walking group, exercising at the beach or spending time with her husband and two sons.

    Kimberly is an instructor of Long Beach, CA with a gift for working with kids. While Kimberly has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Reading and Writing tutoring and loves helping kids learn new things.. She studied at UCLA. When Kim isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with her family.

Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the growth and progress her students make, and she loves to see the excitement on her students' faces when they "get it." Kallye is a graduate of Chapman University. When she's not at Sylvan she loves to travel, read and go to the movies and concerts.

    Alexis is from Lakewood, CA and is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach. She enjoys teaching History because it is her favorite subject, and also because she believes that it is important for everyone to learn from the people and events of the past to make a better future. She loves to help students have those "A-ha" moments. In her free time, Alexis enjoys music, traveling, gardening, camping, fishing, video games, reading, racing, baseball, TV and movies.

    Ran is a gifted math teacher who especially enjoys teaching geometry. He loves that math encourages curiosity and questions, and enjoys teaching because every day is different and because he gets to see the looks on students faces when the finally get a challenging concept. Ran has a BS in Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics from Cal-Berkely, and also earned his MA in Coaching/Athletic Administration, MS in Coaching and Exercise Sciences and a Single Subject Math Credential from Concordia University. His hobbies include sports, especially track and field, fitness, travel and cooking.

    Kara is the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center of Long Beach. Kara’s job is to make sure student programs fit their learning needs and to keep open contact with parents and teachers to provide a strong support system that allows students to achieve success. With eight years of teaching experience in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade, she understands the classroom setting and the needs of students, from the rigorous CORE curriculum to how to prepare them for state standardized testing. Kara believes that with a strong foundation in the basic skills, students will gain confidence and strength to take on more challenging tasks and this will build a lifelong love of learning. Outside the center, Kara can be found paddling outrigger on the ocean or attempting to paddle board. She also enjoys delicious foods and trips to exotic places. As a once struggling reader, she understands the stress and frustration that students and parents can feel. Kara knows, with support and understanding, all students can be successful!
