Our tutors and staff in Maple Valley consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Maple Valley know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Gwen has been a part for the Sylvan team since 2008 working at both the Sylvan of Kent and Maple Valley, serving the Kent, Renton, Tahoma, Enumclaw, and Highline school districts. She graduated from Central Washington University in 2008 where she obtained a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Elementary Science. Previous to Sylvan, Gwen was a guest teacher in the Kent School District. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including math, reading, study skills and beginning reading programs at Sylvan Learning. She enjoys seeing the look on students’ faces when they learn and understand something new. In her spare time she enjoys going to new places with her friends.

    Brian S.


    Brian has worked at Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley since September 2017. He is a graduate of Oregon State University. During his time as a graduate student, he was also a graduate teaching assistant. Prior to Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley, Brian taught various levels of calculus at Oregon State University as an instructor during the 2016-2017 academic year. Overall, Brian has accumulated nine years of teaching and tutoring experience. Brian enjoys teaching various levels of mathematics including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. In his free time, Brian enjoys hiking, programming, and making home-made pizza.

    Debbie F.


    Debbie F. is tutor in Maple Valley, WA, with a gift for working with kids. While Debbie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring in reading. She studied at Griffin College and Eton Technical. When Debbie isn't at Sylvan you can find her cheering on the Seattle Seahawks. GO HAWKS!!!
