Anjanetter I. Garza

Executive Director

Anjanette has over 25 years of experience in Public Education and Local Government. She recently managed Grants and Federal Programs at McAllen ISD, and prior to that worked in the City Manager’s office at the City of Edinburg. While she recently became the owner of the local Sylvan Centers, she has a long history with Sylvan. Anjanette was a Sylvan mom, as well as an active partner of Sylvan in supporting local non-profits.

Dennis Rodriguez

McAllen Center Director

As a Center Director, Dennis helps customers with all the Sylvan services. He guides them into a program that best suits the parents as well as the student. When he’s not at Sylvan, Dennis enjoys traveling and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Yuko Garcia

Director of Contract Services

Yuko Garcia is the Director of Contract Services. She works with school districts throughout the RGV. Yuko graduated from UTRGV with a BA in International Business and MBA. For the last 19 years she has been working in the field of education making a positive impact in student’s lives and continuing to foster the next generation of leaders. Her favorite thing about working at Sylvan is “seeing student’s academic growth and knowing that we are making a difference with our kids. They are our future leaders!”

Karen L. Chappell

McAllen Center Lead Teacher

Our lead teacher in McAllen is Karen Chappell. Karen graduated from the Univ. of Texas-Pan American with a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies and a minor in early childhood education. Before coming to Sylvan in 2004, Karen taught elementary students in Edinburg CISD. She has 21 years of teaching experience. Karen’s favorite movie is “Lord of the Rings” and her favorite book is “Charlotte’s Web.” One of Karen’s favorite quotations by Maria Fontaine is: “Of all things we give a child, our words must be the most carefully wrapped.” Karen loves spending her free time with her four grandchildren or relaxing at South Padre Island.
