Our tutors and staff in Los Altos & Mountain View consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Mountain View know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Vincent Zhang, Center Director

    Vincent Zhang

    Center Director

    As Center Director, Vincent leads management and operations for Sylvan of Mountain View. Vincent is a former laser physicist and specialized in optical system design. He was also a radio host in the Bay Area to host educational and sports programs. Vincent used to teach top engineers from companies such as Google, Apple, Microsoft and NASA to use professional optical design software. As a father of 3 lovely children, he has strong faith and passion in education which lead to his path at Sylvan.

    Elyse Miller

    Administrative Assistant

    Elyse is a California native, who has worked in a variety of business roles such as Human Resources, Customer Service, and Accounting before coming to Sylvan Learning. She has also been an active member of the Mountain View community since 2003, as a Mom, a school volunteer, and fundraiser. In her role at Sylvan, she is the office administrator and fills in as needed teaching various classes.

    Cindy Sue

    Instructor

    Cindy holds a BA in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Santa Clara University. Before she joined Sylvan Mountain View in 2017, she taught in Los Altos private school for 7 years and she was also a K-12 substitute teacher for Harker Schools for 5 years. Cindy has been teaching for 20 years and was also an adoption social worker for the county. Cindy loves being a teacher at Sylvan and enjoys teaching reading and writing.
  • Eve Zoebisch, Instructor

    Eve Zoebisch

    Instructor

    Eve holds a B.S. in Chemistry with a math minor from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked in Industry to develop a well-rounded understanding of how STEM classes are used in the workforce. Her work includes pharmaceutical development at SRI and at DuPont/Merck, and work on the design teams for the Xbox, the Xbox 360, and cameras used in Apple iPhone. Eve has taught at Sylvan since 2016 and enjoys teaching math and chemistry, frequently tailoring the material to the strengths of the individual.

    Instructor

    Steven is from Northeast Ohio and worked on his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Neuroscience at MIT. He is a recent transplant to Mountain View and has been thoroughly enjoying teaching math to the students here at Sylvan. He is also looking forward to branching out into teaching other topics as well.
  • Jerry Van Doren, Instructor

    Jerry Van Doren

    Instructor

    Jerry is a native Californian, graduated from San Jose State University (SJSU), worked in broadcast journalism and substitute taught. His teaching credential in elementary education comes from SJSU. He worked for the Evergreen School District and San Jose Unified School District teaching language arts and social studies, Independent Studies, and is now retired. Jerry finds the greatest joy in English, Reading, and Writing tutoring. He enjoys spending time with his granddaughter in his spare time.

    Peggy Sato

    Instructor

    Peggy grew up in Hawaii, and graduated with a BS in Applied Mathematics from The Ohio State University, later earning her MA in Teaching from Lewis & Clark College. She has worked at Crockett Cogeneration and has 15+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry. In her spare time, Peggy enjoys piano and both classical and jazz voice.

    Wayne Jebian

    Instructor

    Wayne Jebian has completed his BA in American History, MA in American Studies at Columbia, MA in English at the University of Connecticut, and a freshman year at Yale. He is a Mountain View native and Menlo Alum and has lived in New York, Connecticut, Spain, and the Netherlands. His first job as a college graduate was as a professional rollerblading billboard, and today his favorite hobby is songwriting. He has taught English at the college introductory level for fifteen years and has worked sporadically as a writer. He has two children living in New York City. Wayne Jebian regards his bucket list as filled. His one wish would be to home the world.
  • Liping Cai, Instructor

    Liping Cai

    Instructor

    Dr. Liping Cai obtained his Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. at Northeast Forestry University, China. He was a research scientist in Canada for 13 years before joining the Mechanical Engineering Department at University of North Texas where he worked as a researcher & adjunct professor until 2022. He taught classes like Advanced Engineering Math, Advanced Experimental Design and Analysis, and Statistics. He also carried out many research projects using machine learning, machine vision, simulation, and prediction in civil and mechanical areas. He published 200+ papers in scientific journals. Liping likes tutoring Mathematics, SAT/ACT math, AP Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Statistics. 
  • Stephen Reagin, Instructor

    Stephen Reagin

    Instructor

    Stephen is originally from Houston, TX where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Math with a Physics minor, focusing on the mathematics of quantum computing algorithms. He moved to California in 2017 working for VMware in Palo Alto. In his free time, he enjoys data science programming, reading, and playing guitar.
