Our tutors and staff in Bloomington / Normal consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Normal know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Rob Keller, Executive Director

    Executive Director

    As Executive Director, Rob oversees all directors, facilitators, and teachers in the Normal, Peoria, and Forest Park Sylvan Learning Centers. Rob purchased the Sylvan Learning Centers in December 2015. He has a BA in Accounting with concentration in Technology from Millikin University. Rob is passionate about overcoming obstacles and mentoring/coaching people to help them achieve their life goals, passions, and purpose. He finds it an honor and privilege to help students and their families achieve academic success. When Rob isn’t at Sylvan, you will find him with his family and friends, in his woodworking shop, or traveling.

    Center Director

    Julia joins Sylvan with an Elementary Education degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and sales and marketing experience.  She strongly believes in Sylvan's approach to individualized teaching and building confidence.  When Julia is not at Sylvan, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with her three children.

    Director of Education

    Laura joins Sylvan with an Elementary Education degree from Illinois State University. She oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of teachers in Bloomington/Normal. A former teacher in Bloomington/Normal, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan. When Laura isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with her husband and three children, volunteering at her church, and spending time with her friends and family.

    Kara Kirkus

    Tutor

    Kara joins Sylvan Learning Center of Bloomington-Normal with degrees in French Education and Music from Illinois State University. She loves teaching, and especially enjoys helping students with their Math and Language Arts goals. When Kara isn't at Sylvan, you can find her playing multiple instruments, such as the clarinet, ukulele, and piano. She also enjoys running, writing poetry, and discovering new ways to continuously hone her French speaking skills.
