Are you currently in the process of obtaining a degree in education and looking for teaching experience? Sylvan Learning of Omaha is hiring part-time after-school personal academic coaches for our tutoring programs!The best part? There is NO LESSON PLANNING OR MATERIAL PREPARATION REQUIRED!
Simply arrive and begin teaching! Sylvan coaches help inspire students to learn by providing an exciting, balanced learning experience. Our team is dedicated to helping students understand learning material and have the confidence to take on any academic challenges they may face. You get to just show up and be reminded of why you went into teaching!We also hire retired teachers, substitute teachers with a teaching license, inactive teachers, and paraprofessionals with a teaching certificate. Pay ranges from $13/hr to $16/hr depending on experience, availability, and subjects taught. Hours range from 4-10 hours per week. Sylvan coaches also enjoy a 40% off discount on our core tutoring services. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCreates a friendly and inviting environment for students Guides students through Sylvan’s learning programsManages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session Evaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignment Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learnCompletes learning logs at the end of each hour to communicate the student’s learning with parentsCommunicates with DirectorsAttends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed Completes certification training on each Sylvan program taught to students REQUIREMENTSPersonal Academic Coaches for Reading and Math: Four year degree or equivalent preferred State or provincial teaching credentials (current)Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred
