Rebecca Chenault

Center Director - B.S. in Education, M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction

Certified Teacher/ Reading Specialist– Since 1998, Rebecca has been a lead teacher, trainer and tester for Sylvan Learning Center. With over 26 years experience as a classroom teacher and reading specialist, Rebecca recently retired from the Northside School District. She graduated from Southwest Texas University in 1975 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and later completed her M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2002, Rebecca received her Master Reading Teacher Certification.Rebecca is so excited to return to the Bandera Road location.

Kristen Helkey

Reading, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep Teacher

B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies from UTSA.
Kristen is an experienced teacher in  Special Education  for Northside ISD. She joined Sylvan in October 1999 as a tutor and became Assistant Director of Education in April 2000.  She now currently teaches 4th grade at Great Hearts but still helps with testing and teaching at Sylvan.

Preston Noble

Math Specialist- Alg 1, Alg 2, Geometry, Pre-Cal, Cal Teacher

B.S. in Math, M.S. in Applied Math from North Carolina State University, MBA in Business and Finance from Webster University.
 Preston joined our Bandera Road math tutoring team in 2013. Currently he works as a Civil Engineer for the Air Force here in San Antonio. In addition, Preston speaks fluent German.

Sister Mary Margaret Dilabio

Reading, Math, Writing, SAT/ACT Prep Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.S. in Education from West Texas A&M, M.S. in Administrative Leadership from University of Texas at Dallas
Sister has been an administrator and a teacher at Atonement Academy since 1994.  A former Sylvan teacher from 1996-2004, we welcome her back in 2018 with open arms.  Sister has always been one of our most requested teachers.

Donna Cameron

Reading and Math Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.S. , M.S. in Education from Trinity University
Donna is a retired Edgewood elementary school teacher who specializes in reading.  She taught for 35 years, specializing in Reading.  Donna joined the Sylvan of NW San Antonio team in 2008.

Nancy Pollan

Reading and Math Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.S. in Education from West Texas A&M
Nancy is a former bilingual teacher in Dallas ISD and elementary teacher in SAISD.  Upon retirement from teaching, she was a legal foster child manager and later managed foster homes.  Nancy joined our Sylvan team in 2018.

James Larkin

Math / Physics Teacher

B.S. in Physics, M.S. in Physics from Texas A&M University
James joined our San Antonio, TX tutoring team in 2012. Prior to retirement, James worked for over 30 years in the semiconductor industry. He enjoys tutoring students of all ages.

Certified Teacher- B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies from A&M San Antonio.
Alexa is an elementary teacher that has taught at Steubing Elementary in NISD. She started as a center assistant at Sylvan when she was in high school at O’Connor. She has recently rejoined the Sylvan of Northwest San Antonio team as a reading and math teacher.

Certified Teacher- B.S. in Education from Texas A&M, M.S. in Counseling from UTSA
Rebecca joined the Sylvan of Northwest San Antonio team in 2023.  She is a retired NISD 1st grade teacher.

Certified Teacher- B.S. in Education from Texas A&M Kingsville.
Cynthia is a retired NISD teacher that has been a part of the Sylvan of Northwest San Antonio team since 1995.  In addition to teaching for NISD, she also taught at Holy Spirit Catholic School for 4 years.

Mamie Larkin

Proctor/Assistant

Mamie is a retired counselor. She is a mother of 4 and has 6 grandkids. She belongs to an archeology club. Mamie enjoys working with students and can’t wait to help your child succeed.
