I began my career at Sylvan roughly two years ago as a parent volunteer while my son was enrolled as a student. I ended up liking it so much, and had developed such a meaningful connection with the kids, that I decided to start working here. When I'm away from work, you can typically find me with my husband and/or son, and our Maine Coon Cat. I am also a published indie author, so if I'm not with family, I'm usually in my writing cave.

I am a certified teacher in both Alabama and Georgia. I have a master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Berry College. My husband is a veteran and we have been married 18 years. We have 4 wonderful children. After graduating with my master's I subbed at most of the Rome City Schools for 4 years. Then I taught 6th grade English Language Arts for a year and now I teach right here at Sylvan Academy during the day and then I tutor in the evenings and weekends. I love working with small groups or one on one here. I really feel like I can make a difference for these kids. I instruct reading, math, writing, social studies, homework support, study skills, and ACT/SAT prep.

My Sylvan career started in the year 2000. I was able to help parents understand how Sylvan could help their children. From 2004-2011 I was able to work with many Sylvan Learning Centers in Georgia, Alabama and Florida as I continued to help parents choose the right programs for their children. I’m very excited to be able to work at the Rome center now and I continue to enjoy being able to work right along side parents as they see wonderful results from our academic programs.
