    Lori Sofinowski

    Director of Education

    Lori oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Round Rock. A former high school English teacher in Beaumont, elementary teacher and tutor in Pflugerville, and Sylvan tutor from 2001, Lori brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Round Rock. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.  When Lori isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her hanging out with her family (husband Andy, sons Ethan and Harper), reading, or catching a band or comedy show in Austin.

    Grant Williams

    District Support Team

    Grant works to support our Sylvan families across the district with their educational needs, program updates and connecting with classroom teachers. Grant graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in International Relations & Global Studies. He studied abroad in Guatemala, encountering the fascinating world of the ancient Maya. Grant loves working with kids of all ages. His favorite part of teaching is developing personal relationships with each of his students and watching them shine. While Grant isn’t at Sylvan, he enjoys exploring nature, creating art and reading captivating stories.

    Brian Montez


    Brian holds a B.S. in interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University. He also holds a professional certification in Elementary and Secondary Education for all subjects. His favorite part of teaching is inspiring and working with kids to help them reach their full potential. His goal is to help kids reach success in and outside of the classroom. He is a San Antonio native but decided to move to Austin to start his career. He loves to read books and visit family in San Antonio when he can. He also believes that being a big fan of sports is one of the most fun, yet stressful hobbies he has. 
  • Cherie Baker, Tutor

    Cherie Baker


    Cherie holds BA’s in Political Science and History, an MA in History, and a MSIS in Archives from Lamar University Beaumont and University of Texas in Austin. Currently she is the librarian at an elementary school in Manor, TX. Her favorite part of teaching is when a student embraces what they have learned and is able to share their knowledge with others. Born on a military base, and having moved many times, she decided that the capital of Texas was the best place to live. Cherie and her family enjoy living in Central Texas and in her spare time she reads, crochets, gardens, and bikes. Her two dogs give her great entertainment trying to catch birds and chasing shadows. Cherie believes that one can never have enough laughter in their life and good books to read!  
  • Debbie Henderson, Tutor

    Debbie Henderson


    Debbie has a degree from Ohio University in Elementary Education and a Master's from Fairleigh Dickinson. She is certified in K-8 and her passion for education is in seeing and hearing the excitement students experience when they have that "aha" moment! When Debbie isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her teaching English online or travelling to see her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in the Czech Republic and working on her Chesky savvy.
  • Gordon Lee, Tutor

    Gordon Lee


    Gordon holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently works as a process engineer at Samsung Austin Semiconductors and loves to teach during his free time. His favorite part of teaching is developing a student’s enthusiasm for learning and having a lasting impact in his education. Gordon loves the outdoorsy focused activities in Austin and his favorite hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, archery, and basketball.



    Joam was a Math instructor in Quezon City, Philippines.  She has also taught general education subjects in the pre-school to the high school levels but her favorite subject is Mathematics. She studied at AMA Computer University and International Baptist College.  Aside from tutoring she also spends most of her time playing the piano and cooking.



    Josh is a teacher in Austin, Tx with a gift for working with kids. While Josh has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He studied at the University of Missouri - Rolla. When Josh isn't at Sylvan, you'll find him breaking stuff around the house or lecturing his cat on the finer points of etiquette.

    Joy Hart


    Joy graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with her Bachelor’s in Education and then pursued her Master’s from Texas A&M-Central Texas. She has always had a love working with kids and believes that teaching consists of not only teaching academics, but helping students build strong character as well. When she is not tutoring, she is spending time with her friends and family.

    Kraven Rowry


    Kraven hails from Waco, Texas but currently resides in Hutto with her husband, Shedrach, and their three children: Isaac, Ariana, and Elise. She has been an educator since 2001, specializing in differentiated instruction for diverse learners. 
  • LeaAnn Mizer, Tutor

    LeaAnn Mizer


    LeaAnn is a tutor in Round Rock with a gift and passion for working with kids. LeaAnn has taught for years in Texas' first through fourth grade classrooms and enjoys working most with students one-to-one and in small groups. LeaAnn studied as an interventionist and when she's not teaching at Sylvan, you'll find her engaged in special education advocacy.
  • Louise Lawler, Tutor

    Louise Lawler


    Louise came to Round Rock when escaping the Nevada desert and giant mosquitoes of Georgia. Making sure students achieve academic success is her favorite part of teaching, and she has an Ed. Specialist degree from Jacksonville State U., and certification in special education. When Louise is not teaching at Sylvan, you'll find her exercising, reading, running 5K and 10K and relaxing with friends and family.
  • Pamela Kahlstrom, Tutor

    Pamela Kahlstrom


    A native Texan, Pamela has a Bachelor's degree from WGU and teaching certification in elementary and secondary education. Her favorite part of teaching is experiencing those moments when students understand a concept for the first time -- those "light bulb" moments. Pamela loves her demanding cat Sasha and her silly chicken Artemis; she believes people can never have too many pets. When Pamela isn't teaching at Sylvan, you'll most likely find her immersed in the television or a good book.
  • Tim Gloster, Tutor

    Tim Gloster


    Tim Gloster graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education and then went on to graduate from the University of Houston-Clearlake with a M.S. in Education Mid-Management. He received his Texas teaching certification in Elementary Education grades K-6, Special Education grades K-12, Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood with Disability Education. Currently, Tim works as both a teacher and in administration at Sylvan. Tim’s favorite part of teaching is seeing those aha moments when a child really gets what they are learning. When Tim is not at Sylvan, he enjoys traveling with his wife.
