Peggy Ayala

Center Director

Certified Teacher- B.S. in Elementary Education with a specialization Mathematics
Peggy joined the Sylvan team in 1999. She is a former middle school math teacher. Peggy has been a Director of Education at our Northwest San Antonio and South San Antonio locations. As Center Director, she leads the Sylvan of South San Antonio team to success!
Jason Balencia

Director of Education

Jason oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in San Antonio. A former educator in San Antonio, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of San Antonio. He graduated from UTSA. When Jason isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him visiting historical sites and playing with his children.
Jacqueline Gonzalez

Reading & Math Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.S. Sociology, M.S. School Counseling
Jacqueline is an Special Education Teacher in San Antonio, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Jacqueline has many tutoring talents, She finds the greatest joy in reading and math tutoring. She studied at Our Lady of the Lake. When Jacqueline isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading a book and spending time with family .
Robin Troy

Math & Reading Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.S. Elementary Education
Robin is an Elementary School Teacher in San Antonio, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Robin has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math and reading tutoring. She studied at UTSA. When Robin isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her working with special education programs.
Cecile Schultz

Reading, Math, Writing Teacher- Assessment Administrator

Certified Teacher- B.A. in Elementary Education, M.A. in Elementary Education, Certifed in Special Education
Cecile has over 35 years teaching experience in both public and private schools here in San Antonio. Cecile attended UTSA. She has tutored at the South San Antonio learning center since 2005.
Ricardo Acuna

Reading and Math Teacher

Certified Teacher- B.A. in English, St. Mary's University, M.A. in English currently in progress.
Ricardo is a graduate of St. Mary's University. He retired from teaching in SAISD in 2020 after 20 years of service. Ricardo taught English, coached sports and UIL teams. He joined the Sylvan of South San Antonio and Schertz teams in 2020.
