Our tutors and staff in Southlake & Keller consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Southlake know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Denise Luckey

    Director of Education

    Denise oversees the educational integrity of our programs,  managing and training our team of tutors in Sylvan of Southlake.  As a former tri-licensed teacher, Denise brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan with many years of teaching experience in New Jersey, Illinois, and Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and education from Carlow University. As  a member of the Southlake staff since 2002, Denise finds the greatest joy in inspiring students to achieve their academic goals. 
  • Diane McQuillan, Tutor

    Diane McQuillan


    Diane graduated from St. Mary's College in Wionona, MN.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a Psychology major and a Business Administration minor.  Diane enjoys working as a Kindergarten teacher at Children's Courtyard, where she has been a member of their staff for several years.  Diane engages students in learning processes by utilizing creative and interesting teaching methods and multi-sensory applications.  Diane enjoys spending time with her three daughters and grandchild.
  • Mara Hammit, Tutor

    Mara Hammit


    Mara is a retired teacher from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD with 27 years of teaching experience. She received both her BA and MA degrees from Tarleton State University. Mara holds dual certifications in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities and is very experienced with dyslexic education.  At Sylvan Southlake, Mara tutors reading, writing, and math to our elementary students.  In her leisure time, she enjoys shopping, eating at her favorite chefs' restaurants, and listening to live Texas music.
  • Camden Moresi, Tutor

    Camden Moresi


    Camden is a substitute teacher for Birdville ISD with a gift for working with kids. While Camden has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching elementary reading. Camden is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In her free time, Camden enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, Tucker and Charlie, and watching and attending Texas Rangers and Dallas stars games.
  • Marilyn Weber, Tutor

    Marilyn Weber


    Marilyn has utilized her 42 + years of classroom teaching in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, inspiring students toward their educational goals at Sylvan Southlake since 1998. Marilyn holds her BA and MA degrees from Rosary College, NIU, and TCU, with dual certifications in Illinois and Texas for 6-12 History and English. She enjoys volunteering at her church, Boy Scout Merit Badge counseling, playing the piano, and reading historically based novels.
  • Joseph Buchanan-Vega, Tutor

    Joseph Buchanan-Vega


    Joseph was formerly a Physics teacher in Allen, TX.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Physics at Grambling State University and is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of North Texas at Dallas. Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan where he tutors all level math and science students.  
  • Laura Moore , Tutor

    Laura Moore


    Laura Moore is a Math and Reading instructor for Sylvan Learning Center. Before coming to Sylvan, she taught in Texas, Kansas, and completed her studies at Baylor University. When Laura isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, exercising, serving at church, and spending time with her family and friends.
  • Mary Chang, Tutor

    Mary Chang


    Mary is a graduate of University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  She holds certifications in Special Education, ESL, and EC - 6 grades.  Mary's experience is in the Garland ISD as a special ed teacher.  In her role as a tutor at Sylvan, she enjoys teaching reading, writing, and math.  When Mary isn't at Sylvan, she enjoys playing with her two rabbits and dog.
  • Frank Martinez, Tutor

    Frank Martinez


    Frank is a retired high school math teacher in Arlington with a gift for working with students. He holds a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Texas at San Antonio and an MA in Mathematics Teaching from the University of Texas at Arlington.  He finds the greatest joy in teaching math at all levels, as well as SAT/ACT at Sylvan.  Frank is married with four children.
  • Sarah Cranford, Tutor

    Sarah Cranford


    Sarah has experience as an early childhood and elementary teacher.  She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a BA in Education.  As a tutor at Sylvan, Sarah has a talent for teaching reading, advanced reading skills, math, writing, and study skills to students in elementary and middle school.  When Sarah isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her reading and writing short stories.
  • Kishta Ramirez, Tutor

    Kishta Ramirez


    Kishta is a former English teacher at Bowie High School in Arlington, TX. with a gift for working with kids.  At Sylvan she enjoys tutoring students in reading, study skills, writing, and SAT/ACT.  Kishta graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BA in English/Writing. When Kishta isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her spending time with her family. 
  • Tod Anderson, Tutor

    Tod Anderson


    Tod is a teacher at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth.  He graduated from Southwest TX State University with a BS in Elementary Education and an MA in Secondary Education from the University of North TX.  Tod enjoys teaching reading, math, and writing to our Sylvan students.  His greatest joy is in the area of biology, earth science, and bilingual education.
