Our tutors and staff in Southlake & Keller consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Southlake know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Center Director

    As Center Director, Chelsea helps to lead and facilitate the operations and management for Sylvan Learning of Southlake/Keller. A former Retail Manager, Chelsea chose a career in the tutoring business because she wanted to fulfill her passion for advocating for children and academic achievement.  She earned her BBA in Marketing from the University of North Texas. When Chelsea isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, being outdoors, and trying new restaurants.
  • Renda Hawkins, Director of Education

    Renda Hawkins

    Director of Education

    Renda oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Southlake. A former classroom teacher in the HEB school district, Renda brings over thirty years of experience and knowledge to Sylvan of Southlake. She graduated from Texas A&M Commerce with a Masters in Education Counseling. When Renda isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, shopping for antiques, or enjoying a good cup of coffee.
  • Laura Moore , Tutor

    Laura Moore


    Laura Moore is a Math and Reading instructor for Sylvan Learning Center. Before coming to Sylvan, she taught in Texas, Kansas, and completed her studies at Baylor University. When Laura isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, exercising, serving at church, and spending time with her family and friends.
  • Mary Ann Leasman, Tutor

    Mary Ann Leasman


    Mary Ann joined the Sylvan team in Fall 2018.  She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology and a Masters of Science degree from the University of Texas in Arlington. Following a career in the corporate world, she subbed In Keller and Northwest beginning in 2007 and received her alternative teacher certification in 2009. After teaching for several years in Wise county, she is currently teaching Science at Keller Middle School. Mary Ann enjoys running, cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her family and a very spoiled Corgi.  
  • Liz Geihl, Tutor

    Liz Geihl


    Originally from a bustling suburb outside of Houston, Liz followed her passions to Baylor University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and general history.  For the last three years, she has taught English III and IV at Red Oak HS. When not at Sylvan, she spends her free time with friends and her black lab, Salem.
  • Marilyn Weber, Tutor

    Marilyn Weber


    Marilyn has utilized her 42 + years of classroom teaching in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, inspiring students toward their educational goals at Sylvan Southlake since 1998. Marilyn holds her BA and MA degrees from Rosary College, NIU, and TCU, with dual certifications in Illinois and Texas for 6-12 History and English. She enjoys volunteering at her church, Boy Scout Merit Badge counseling, playing the piano, and reading historically based novels.
