Our tutors and staff in Strongsville consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Strongsville know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Anne Ryland, Center Director

    Anne Ryland

    Center Director

    As Center Director, Anne leads operations, sales, and communications for Sylvan of Strongsville. A former social worker, Anne chose a career in the tutoring business because she would like to continue to help children and families find success. She studied at The University of Akron. When Anne isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her creating art and crafts. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
  • McKenzie Lakota, Director of Education

    McKenzie Lakota

    Director of Education

    McKenzie oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Strongsville. A former Math teacher in Florida, McKenzie brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Strongsville. She graduated from Norte Dame College. When McKenzie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her at Jazzercise classes, walking, and traveling. 
  • Osvaldo Rivera, Tutor

    Osvaldo Rivera


    Osvaldo is a retired NASA mechanical engineer in Northeast Ohio with a gift for working with kids. While Osvaldo has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. He studied at the University of Toledo. When Osvaldo isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him giving back to his community by helping others.
  • Barbara Bucey, Tutor

    Barbara Bucey


    Barbara is a teacher at Mathnasium and a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Strongsville for eight years. She has a natural gift for working with kids and directed a Vacation Bible School for seventeen years. While Barbara has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in elementary and middle school tutoring. She studied at UGA. When Barbara isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her grandchildren.
