Our tutors and staff in Torrance consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Torrance know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.   • Chloe Tsolakoglou, Director of Education

    Chloe Tsolakoglou

    Director of Education

    Chloe Tsolakoglou began at Sylvan as a Writing Instructor and went on to assume the role of Director of Education. She concluded her BA studies in Creative Writing at UC Santa Cruz and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Then, she attained her MFA at the Jack Kerouac School with Distinction, focusing on Poetry and Pedagogy. Before Sylvan, she was an Adjunct Professor of Writing for college freshmen. She has published her poetry and short fiction in various magazines and acts as an editor for two different publications. What brings her the most gratification at Sylvan is witnessing the personal and academic growth of students and providing them with the tools they need in order to be successful.
  • Fabio Marquez, Regional Director

    Fabio Marquez

    Regional Director

    Fabio Marquez is the Regional Director for Sylvan and has been with the company for 7 years. In the Regional Director role, he oversees seven centers and is responsible for operations, sales, and ongoing training. Fabio attended UC Irvine where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics along with a Minor in Latin American Studies. He comes to Sylvan with over a decade of tutoring and directing experience. In 2018, he was nominated for the Center Director of the Year Award. This award spans all centers in North America. Fabio enjoys working with families in order to make an ongoing plan for success.
  • Sara Hall, Director of Marketing

    Sara Hall

    Director of Marketing

    Sara is the Director of Marketing for 8 Sylvan Learning centers in Southern California. In addition to overseeing all local digital marketing campaigns across her centers, Sara conducts and manages partnerships with school districts across Los Angeles. Sara’s passion for education began during her time at California State University, Long Beach, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. During her time in college, she studied abroad in Oxford England and taught English in South Korea. When she is not at Sylvan, she’s hiking and exploring the local mountains, hitting the beach, or scuba diving the Channel Islands.
  • Mariam Rezian, Assistant Center Director

    Mariam Rezian

    Assistant Center Director

    Mariam Rezian is the Assistant Center Director for Torrance. She has been with Sylvan since August 2019. She graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a BA in Liberal Arts and a minor in English Literature. Mariam is Armenian and has lived in Gardena, California her entire life. In her free time, Mariam is an avid Disney fan and loves to read sci-fi and fantasy novels. What she loves most about Sylvan is that we build a foundation in a student’s education. She feels that Sylvan motivates students and gives them the confidence they need to do well and enjoy school.
  • David Lopez, Lead Teacher

    David Lopez

    Lead Teacher

    David Lopez is the Lead Teacher for Torrance. As a native of Gardena, he has a long-standing passion for education. He attended North High School in Torrance and completed his AA degree in English at El Camino College. Then, David concluded his undergraduate studies in English at UC Riverside, where he also minored in Education. He enjoys running, reading, and watching movies. David specializes in reading, writing, math, and SAT prep. He is also proficient in Spanish and is able to help students overcome linguistic barriers. He appreciates the personalized education each student receives at Sylvan, as well as the 3:1 ratio that ensures they get the attention they need to be successful.
  • Todd Crabtree, Executive Director

    Todd Crabtree

    Executive Director

    Todd is our Executive Director and has a life-long passion for helping kids achieve academic success. He is passionate about college preparation. If you have a question about SAT/ACT, ask Todd. He has been running learning centers since 1998, and he understands the advantage tutored kids have over those that do not get the extra support. Todd graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cal. State University, Fullerton, and he is a 12-year Marine Corps veteran. He is also a full-time soccer dad. When you see him in the center, please say, “Hi!” He would love to hear about how you learned about Sylvan.
  • Anisa Delgado, Center Assistant

    Anisa Delgado

    Center Assistant

    Anisa Delgado is our Center Assistant in Torrance. She graduated from Cal. State University, Dominguez Hills with a BA in English Literature. Anisa is currently working on a book of poetry with her best friend who is an illustrator. She enjoys reading, writing, painting, and going to Disneyland. What she enjoys the most about Sylvan is watching the kids learn and progress as well as enjoying the program.
