Our tutors and staff in Twinsburg consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Twinsburg know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores.     Center Director/Owner

    As Center Director, Melinda provides an enriched learning environment that promotes student academic success. She prepares high-quality instruction by using Sylvan's curriculum and consistent communication with families and tutors. Melinda chose a career with Sylvan because she values personal learning that brings positive results. She studied at Cleveland State University earning a master's in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy Development/TESOL. When not at Sylvan, she spends time with her two teenagers, reads, and watches movies. 
  • Roger Racey, Director/Owner

    Roger Racey


    Roger oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing, and training our team of tutors. As a former/current elementary and high school teacher, he brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Twinsburg.  Roger graduated from Cleveland State University earning a master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. When he isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him bowling or watching movies.

    Lead Teacher

    Hayley is a Sylvan teacher who enjoys the moments when a student understands a new skill and she sees the reaction when it "clicks".  She tutors reading, math, writing, and study skills. She also works with ACT/SAT prep and homework support students. Hayley studied at Kent State University and earned a bachelor's in Educational Studies with a minor in English. She loves coming to SLT because of her awesome team! When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time in the sun, reading, and watching movies or TV shows.

    Certified Teacher

    Baruch "Nick" is a Sylvan teacher who truly cares about his students' learning. He will make all effort to ensure they understand and apply new skills. He teaches reading, math, and writing.

    Certified Teacher

    Connie is a Sylvan teacher with the kindest heart. She studied at Kent State University earning a master's in Special Education and a bachelor's in Educational Studies. She is a Work Study and Option 4 coordinator. Connie loves working at SLT because she loves the awesome staff because we help each other and have become like family. Connie is a certified Dog Trainer and Dog Groomer. Her hobbies include working with and training dogs to find plants and work as crisis volunteer canines.

    Zalinia Cole

    Sylvan Certified Teacher

    Zalinia is a Sylvan teacher with a gift for teaching our high school math and ACT/SAT students. She enjoys building their confidence in their abilities in effort to empower our youth. Zalinia graduated from Appalachian State University earning a bachelor's in Biology and Secondary Education Science. She values the opportunity to work in a small group setting. She has many interests such as hiking, gardening, reading, drawing, and spending time with family. Zalinia has nine years experience with Sylvan through multiple roles ranging from tutor to center director.

    Certified Teacher

    Patricia is a Sylvan teacher who loves watching her students learn new tasks and excel. Working for Sylvan is enjoyable for her because she works with students individually and helps them believe in themselves. Patricia attended Ohio Valley and Oklahoma Christian College earning a bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. She is certified Early Childhood Pk-3, Special Education k-8. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, scrapbooking, making bows, and reading.

    Elizabeth Carlson

    Sylvan Certified Teacher

    As a Sylvan teacher, Elizabeth enjoys sharing her knowledge with her students in a more one-on-one setting. One of her favorite things about Sylvan is that the lessons are more specialized for each student than in a classroom. Elizabeth graduated from College of Wooster with a bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in education. She is currently attending Kent State University for an education degree. She excels at working with our math, reading, and SAT prep students. During her down time, Elizabeth goes horseback riding and does crafting.
