Carol Pope

Franchisee Owner

As Franchisee owner, Carol leads the business, marketing, & school partnerships for Sylvan of Longview & Tyler. A former high school counselor, Carol chose a career in the tutoring business because she has a desire to work with families & students in a more intimate setting to help students gain confidence, overcome their struggles, and excel academically. She studied at Baylor University & received her BA in Education. She continued her education at Amberton University & received a Masters in School Counseling & a Masters in Professional Counseling. When Carol isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her 3 children & family, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling with friends. .

LaKeitha Goss

Center Director

LaKeitha is the Center Director in Tyler, TX. She works hard to ensure that customers are well taken care of and happy with their Sylvan experience. She is a long-term and loyal employee and has been with the company for eighteen years. When LaKeitha isn’t at Sylvan she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and traveling on a semi-truck to sight-see.

Holly Dunklin

Director of Education

Holly oversees the educational integrity of our programs, including the managing and training of our team of tutors in Tyler, TX. She is a former  classroom teacher of 29 years and a Sylvan tutor for two years before becoming the Director of Education. Holly brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan Learning Center of Tyler, TX. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and from Steven F. Austin State University with her Master of Education in Educational Leadership. When Holly isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with family, shopping, or cooking.

Charlotte is a Sylvan tutor in Tyler, Tx with a gift for working with students. While Charlotte has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring reading or elementary math. She studied at Stephen F. Austin State University and graduated with her degree in early childhood education. When Charlotte isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her hiking or walking her dogs.

Beckie Haskell

Tutor

Beckie is a 1st grade teacher in Tyler, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Beckie has many tutoring talents, she finds her greatest joy in tutoring math and reading. She studied at the University of Texas at Tyler, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. When Beckie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading and spending quality time with her family.

Daniel Gutierrez

Tutor

Daniel is a 7th Grade ELAR teacher in Tyler, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Daniel has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in reading, writing,  and college prep tutoring. He studied at Tyler Junior College receiving an Associates in Literature and UT of Tyler with BA in English. WhenDaniel isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him doing anything competitive from Monopoly to soccer, cooking and traveling. Daniel’s educational philosophy is simple: build a relationship to create a continuous learner.

Henry Miller

Tutor

Henry is a Sylvan tutor in Tyler, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Henry has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in either math or social studies tutoring. He studied at the University of Houston and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Finance degree. When Henry isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading or traveling!

Lynan Day

Tutor

Lynan is a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center of Tyler, TX. Lynan has many tutoring talents which include tutoring in reading, writing, and Spanish. She studied at East Texas State University and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish/English and her Master of Education in reading/secondary education. When Lynan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching Netflix or spending time with her furry friends!

Joyce is a Sylvan tutor in Tyler, TX with a passion for working with students. While Joyce has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading/English tutoring. She studied at the University of Texas at Austin and received her Bachelor of Arts in Government/History and English/ESL Certificate. When Joyce isn’t at Sylvan, she is spending her time reading.

Doug is a 4th-12th grade math tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Tyler, TX. He has taught Algebra 1 & 2 and is currently teaching Math 7 and Algebra 1. Doug studied at University of Missouri-Rolla and received his Bachelor of Science in Early Education. When he isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading history, historical fiction, or science fiction books.

Amy Sharp

Tutor

Amy is an ELAR and Math tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Tyler, TX. She finds the greatest joy in helping students overcome their struggles. Amy studied at the University of Texas and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. When Amy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching mysteries or relaxing by the pool.

Sharon is a K-12 reading tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Tyler, TX with a gift for working with students. Sharon finds the greatest joy in seeing students “light up” and in spending time with her family. She studied at the University of Houston and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. When Sharon isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading her favorite books.

Trina is a reading, math, and language arts teacher in Tyler, TX. She is an elementary teacher of 13 years. She studied at the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Marketing and a her Master of Arts in administration. When Trina isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her traveling, reading, or doing crafts.
