  • Bryntie came to the Sylvan of Waco when she was having trouble keeping up with all of her classes. Her mother's goals included Bryntie gaining confidence in reading, as well as, her having the ability to  maintain average grades in all of her classes. Brytnie worked very hard while she was at Sylvan and had over three grade levels of academic growth.  She was also named student of the week for her positive attitude during instruction. Brytnie's mother had this to say, "I cannot say how thankful I am for each and every one of you, and the difference you have made in my daughter's life. Her 5th grade year, she really struggled with her grades, attendance, and her confidence due to bullying at school. Little did I know, you all would make such a huge impact on her. Since completing your program, she now reads and comprehends what she is reading at the 8th grade level! You all are an amazing team who truly care about the kids you help and what you do!"

  • Chanise is a student at Chilton High School who is currently enrolled in the Sylvan of Waco online program. She really enjoys the convenience of live online instruction. Chanise has only been enrolled for about three months and she has grown four grade levels in reading. She used to have test anxiety and did not want to go to school. She now loves school and has a positive attitude towards school. Chanise used to come in and hold her head down and she was unhappy. Now, she is smiling, happy, and confident. Chanise's mother had this to say: "It is all about Sylvan. It is all about confidence. Praise God. She is up before I am and she wants to go to school  I should have done this a long time ago."

  • When Cedarian began at Sylvan, he was on a low 3rd grade level.  Cedarian was usually frustrated and did not have a positive attitude about school.  After he completed just 36 hours of instruction, he jumped to a high 5th grade level and changed his whole outlook on school.  His grandmother, Lois McDowell said, "I have seen such a big improvement in him and so have his school teachers. He likes coming to Sylvan, and now, he likes school."

Tyler's confidence has shot up and his grades are improving.  Both Tyler's grandfather and Dad comment, "Tyler is improving and we are pleased with his results. • Zachary came to us as a beginning reader and started instruction at the Sylvan Learning Center of Waco.  Zachary was having a hard time with letters, sight vocabulary, and phonics. When trying to read, he tended to get a bit frustrated. Zachary is a very smart and intelligent boy who worked very hard to achieve his goals at Sylvan.  He progressed quickly and graduated from the Beginning Reading program and is currently in our Academic Reading program.  Zachary's parents stated, "We can no longer spell things out loud because Zachary can decode it.  He is reading things that he was not reading before and has made much improvement in school, his work, and attitude."
